Well, what do I say here about this DLC.
Disappointed comes to mind right away and I'm going to try to explain why...
1. While this "DLC" does include many if not all of the trains that the unofficial fan patch contained, there are still many trains that have "*****" listed for their information and some trains that don't list any information at all in the trains list. All of the pertinent information is there when you click on a train to buy, but many trains are still left without a description. Better than the fan patch (which you'll have to uninstall Atrain 9 to install this DLC else it won't be able to find the "english" version of Train Giant / Atrain 9).
2. Shangai the city. I'd agree that the city is very well done, and the scenarios can be challenging to new players of this game, however as far as the map editor version goes, it really would have been nice if they gave us the map *PRIOR* to putting down any train routes/ lines etc. What's the point in editing the city if it's already complete, all that means is that we have to delete all the rail tracks and stations as well as sell all the existing trains and other vehicles if we want to truly make Shanghai in our own "image".
Yes, I'll do the work and delete all of the trains, vehicles, and rail way tracks (at least as much as I possibly can delete, I may have to skip deleting some underground tubes though) and make "my" scenario available at www.atrain9.com as soon as I possibly can for those that don't want to do it themselves, and then you can use the nicely developed city of Shanghai as a starting point for all of your own scenarios too.
3. Sad to see that many of the translation bugs still abound. I am about to give up hope that they'll actually fix them. Some are ultra confusing and on the different menus which make using things like the editor difficult. I highly suggest that before they issue anymore DLC, they fix the bugs in the current game!
4. Come on, it's only $2.99,
Correct! For those people that want a little less "******" showing up in their trains list and don't want to trust a "fan patch" then it's probably worth spending the $2.99 to get this DLC just to get the extra 200 trains/vehicles. I suppose you could consider the city map of Shanghai as just a little extra bonus if you so please.
Final Conclusion:
If you want to have the complete game (i.e. all the trains/vehicles) that some of our overseas bretheren have, then it's probably worth the $2.99 to get this. If you don't care about the extra 200 vehicles, then I would save your money for something else. To me the city alone is not worth the price as anybody with enough time and desire could create their own Shanghai with the current game map editor.
