Geneforge 5 review

I find this game similar to the original Baldur's Gate, and Eschalon series, both very good games. I was worried that the play system was slow but it really is smooth and playable. This game lets you pick from 6 different character types with a little more options than just the spell/sword/stealth types of options. I was surprised by the storyline, which was an original approach to the fantasy genre. Another reason to like this game is you can just play it with the mouse, but that's just my own personal preference.

This is an incredible series with an excelent story, ive played all the games in the series and they are all excellent. Its a solid classic turn based rpg, dont be put-off by the 2-d graphics, even if graphics are normally a deal-killer for you, as the gameplay is solid as a rock, and the sprites are excellently drawn, those who have played games for a long time should really appreciate them. Also dont be afraid to jump into the series with this one, as the way the stroy is done you wont be lost. FYI you can get the earlier titles direct from the company.

I love the Geneforge series. It's great classic turn-based RPG goodness, similar to the Fallout series. However, the greatest thing about the series is the character interaction, character development, and story. Quite often, you're required to make semi-important decisions on how you want to solve a particular situation, which can affect how the major factions view your character.

Spiderweb makes difficult games. It will take a while to get used to the game. However, once you get the hang of it, the game has a pretty deep RPG character development system.

Really, there are two possible issues with this game:

1. Old-school 2D graphics. They're really well done, but some people don't like sprite-based games.

2. It has a decent learning curve.

But, if you love classic turn-based RPGs with great player-driven storylines, this is your game.
