Civilization V - Denmark and Explorer's Combo Pack review

While "Korea" is most likely the best of the Civ5 expansions, this one is definitely enjoyable also. It brings some useful & fun content to the game, and it also brings some less so. But the former outweighs the latter, so you'll want to add this expansion if you're a Civ5 fan.

Another Civilization V DLC. This one comes with a new Civ - Denmark (Vikings), scenario specifically made for playing with Denmark and ten new single-player maps.

I love the Vikings so playing with them was good addition to already excellent game and scenario is war(invasion)-oriented - also great for Vikings.

Also, new maps is always good addition.

If you like Civ V get this one on the sale. It's too little content for regular price.

This is a boring enough add-on, the maps are okay but you can get better ones on the civfanatics site and steam workshop. As a faction Denmark are kinda useless compared to a lot of the other factions - their perk and two unique units are the most useful, though berserker is okay for an early game rush as long as your nowhere near the other early rush civs.

One of the better dlc races to come out. the new units aren't bad but the embarking on ice perk used by the Norwegian ski infantry really isn't that useful. The maps included are good and i've had some really good games on all of them.

This is a good pack! It includes some new leaders that are fun to encounter as well as to play. If you like Civ V, you really can't go wrong with ANY of the xp packs, but for some reason, this one's my favorite!

The Denmark and Explorer's Combo pack is a great addon to Civilization V. Denmark is a very nice civilization, especially early game, so epic or marathon game speed is recommended. However, with a stiff list price of 7€, you should buy it when it's on sale.

Great game my favorite Civ game in a while now. I like the changes they made to the combat system stops the mega stacks of units and makes it more realistic to me

A great deal, especially if you are like me and love the Viking era. For a few bucks you open hours of added bonuses, also one of my most played civs.

The new nation of Denmark provided in this DLC pack is an interesting addition to the game of Civ 5, as it provides opportunities for aggressive players and explorers alike. The Denmark unique ability is that they pay less movement points to embark a unit onto water tiles, and laso when disembarking back onto land. This makes the Viking tactic of lightning strikes from the sea available during gameplay. The berserker unit replaces the swordsman unit for Denmark, and comes with the amphibious promotion which helps attacking over rivers or from the sea. A mid game unit is also available in the form of ski infantry, which fights better on snow, tundra and hill tiles.

The scenario for the Denmark DLC is, unsurprisingly, set during the events of 1066 and the Viking invasion of England. You are constantly at war during this scenario, and also must complete the Domesday Book wonder to win. I haven't played much of the scenario yet as I tend towards more peaceful play, but it still looks fun if I fancy a change of pace.

The Explorer's Pack DLC contains a variety of maps and map scripts that offer new landmasses to play Civ 5 on, although I really just saw these as a bonus in buying the DLC combo pack for a decent price.

Quality wise the DLC is great value, and the additional music and art resources fit in well with the core game style. Overall I would say that this DLC pack is good value, and I am usually someone who dislikes this style of selling content. I found it to be a great use for some accumulated blue coins.

Denmark is an excellent addition to your civilization choices, and the Explorer's maps give the seasoned player som great new goals that pushed me (at least) to try some new strategies. A good buy when you're looking for something new to do in Civ V.

Civilization V - Denmark and Explorer's Combo Pack review

The addition of Denmark to Civilization V is an absolute necessity. Admittedly, while one can see the benefits of Denmark, I would have must rathered Sweden. Nonetheless, Denmark fills the gap left hanging over Europe, taking the role of the Vikings, Denmark and Norway all in itself.

Denmark, historically, is the longest surviving state which has both maintained independence and their Monarchy since Medieval Times, and its explorations of Greenland and Canada make it one of the oldest empires surviving today (albeit a disjointed empire, but an empire by the forgotten definition nonetheless). In a game filled with great achievers, Denmark fits perfectly.

Purchasing this DLC will certainly enrich one's experience of the game. The addition of several new maps will refresh one's playing experience, and for those with Nordic heritage or pride, Denmark will bring a much needed breath of fresh air which even Civilisation IV did not appropriately cater to.
