XIII Century - Blood of Europe review

By sabbath519 posted 31st Jul 2010

Only recommended to get if you get the Gold Pack or really liked XIII Century.

Blood of Europe adds several more battle scenarios to play through, although it is not nearly as many as the original game contained. The same complaints of the orginal game can be leveled against Blood of Europe; namely the production values are a bit on the low side, and not much has improved in that regard.

XIII Century - Blood of Europe review

XIII Century: Blood of Europe is a decent game but when it's bought outside of the gold pack on Gamersgate, it seems like it's not worth the money. That is for people who enjoy the single-player at least (I haven't tested multiplayer).

I'm not sure why it says about a big world map in the description or eight campaigns. All I can access in the game is one campaign comprised of eight battles. Admittedly, the campaign has a few improvements with you being to keep a few units from battle to battle and upgrade them etc. Also, there are new effects present.

The good news is that while there may only be eight battles in the single-player portion (compared to around twenty campaign battles and five bonus battles in the original), the game is still challenging.

So, I can only recommend people interested in the game, who don't have prior knowledge of the series, buy the gold pack. Plus the gold pack is the same price as Blood of Europe, which sees you get this expansion plus the original. Of course, if you've already played Death or Glory, then you pretty much know what to expect and it's up to you whether you wish to pay for eight extra battles or not (again, if you like singleplay as I haven't tested the multiplayer).
