War of the Roses: House of York Deluxe Edition review

By Thomsen93 posted 28th December 2012

I found this game to be a complete waste of money. The only feature of the game, besides a sort of singleplayer tutorial, or challenges sort of feature, is it's multiplayer, whcich fails in a number of aspects: it lacks depth in character development and customization, the game options are very reduced, and there is not a single one with proper siege feeling; the combat itself, due to it's dullness, usually evolves into an awful bunch of people spam-hitting eachother and even hitting allies.

Considering it's price, it's what I would call a ripoff, more so since Chivalry Medieval Warfare came out, at a much more reasonable price and offering a more varied gameplay experience. I don't recommen you buy it at all, and if you do, I urge to wait until it is on discount.

happens to be much like warband but has this squad spawn mechanic to allow the action happen more fluenty and be more constant, shame is that combat for warband veterans seems slow BUT this also means many warband players are @ home and ofthen keep shining in servers with top ranks.

well made game like everything that is lately comming from paradox ( mean guys wanna steal our moneyz :< )

if you liked orriginal warband thisone should be atleast tested since they have made alot more immersive sounds, maps are kinda same as in warband, horsearchers still lacking in game but to be honest how strong archers are they migth be overpowered, and lastly this one has much more polished models and better graphics than warband (what it is worth)

This game is really good due to the large amount of customization. The combat is clunky sometimes but the detailed armor mechanics make up for it. All the models look awesome. This would be a 4 star game but some of the animations aren't perfect, but this game is really good and the large amount of upgrades and the levels you can get make playing a lot of fun.

I really wanted to give this game a 5 star rating, having a interest in history and especially this period I've been waiting for it to come out for a while. Its not a bad game by any means in fact its quite fun. The thing that spoils it for me is the amount of bugs its had from release, especially to say its a full price game, and although the developers are quick to fix them to me they shouldn't happen to the degree it has.

I have heard a lot of complaints about the games weapons balance and many players complain about <insert weapon name here> spammers but personally I don't feel this a fair complaint, if you want to moan that someone constantly swinging a two handed sword at your face in a medieval game shouldn't be aloud maybe you should play a game that isn't based on medieval combat.

These things aside I'm still giving it a 3star rating as it does everything a game needs for me, it looks good, it fun to play and it keeps you wanting to play more despite its bugs and kinks.

This game is an awesmoe game for those who like Call of Duty meets Mount and Blade. The main reason I gave it 3 stars is becuase I thought this was going to have some sort of single player campaign and be like an updated Mount and Blade also it is a Paradox game and I love Paradox.

This game is also kinda difficult as you have to time your swings or shots (from a bow) and without and shield time your blocks. This game wouldnt be good for a person new to FPS but if you play enough you would learn. However, it is cool that you can create your own class with buying equipment from gold you earn on a map.

War of the Roses... How to describe it? Excellent. This game provides a great experience in medieval combat, and it barely lags at all! With that said, I will go on to other features in the game. The Customization is astounding! the amount of variations that you can make with your character is nearly endless. All in all it is a great game and I really do enjoy it.

If you enjoyed the Mount and Blade series, then this will knock your socks off. This game has been made so amazingly that you actually feel you are actually there. You can be an archer, a knight, or a infantry man, its all possible. besides the stunning graphics, players need to fight in order to unloack game features and improve your character. The war of the roses plays an important period in english history. See you on the battlefield!
