WarhammerŽ 40,000: Dawn of WarŽ II Gold Edition review

I like this RTS game. Unlike other similar RTS games, it focuses on squadron tactics combat. You don’t need to build any buildings and gather any resources in order to produce and upgrade units. So you can concentrate your mind on the real-time strategic combat completely and enjoy the intense combat process. I also appreciate the rpg element of in this game. The warriors you control can gain experience points after combat. You can allocate those points to increase different abilities for specific warriors.

I always was interesting in the 40K universe but was always put off by the massive amounts of text that followed in the wake of any of the rulebooks. But these games put a great spin on the units and weapons within the universe while also wrapping it within a really solid RTS game.

Dow2 has more in common with Company of Heroes then it's predecessor, which makes it a infinitely more rewarding experience. A word of a caution though, you will need to sign up for Games for Windows account unfortunately.

WarhammerŽ 40,000: Dawn of WarŽ II Gold Edition review

An excellent sequel of the Warhammer franchise.

The multiplayer (and obviously the graphics) has been improved. There are many features that are worth to check, and strategies to be reviewed and modified. You can now play the campaign in multiplayer which is awesome for CoOp.

If we remember the classic RTS, you need to build our main structures and then start thinking on the units. This franchise ends with this, you get rid of this and must be thinking on your own unit strategy.

Another feature that it's not really a signature of the RTS genre is the fact that you get gear and skill management. Which is strange since we are used that it's something we do on RPGs. However this allows us to modify and personalize the strategy we use and the one that our enemies have.
