Underground-Mining-Simulator 2011 review

By LauraAnne posted 5th February

Woo! This is a real stinker of a game. The concept is very appealing but the actual game play/simulation is awful. There are indeed over 20 missions, however most are just a repeat of an earlier one in a different type of mine. Blasting a tunnel in the coal mine is pretty much the same as in a gold mine, except the rock color is different. Each mission unlocks another piece of equipment which can then be used in free-play mode. This is where the game really gets bad. There is no financial simulation to the game. In other words, dig and load, blast and drill all day long with nothing to show for it whatsoever. (except maybe a case of carpal tunnel..no pun intended) The equipment is rather awkward, you must press the space bar to change how the various parts move. Then you must remember which arrow key you need to press to move it in the direction you want. Loading a shovel full of anything with the loader takes forever! This could have been a fun simulation, but it really needs to go back to the drawing board. If you have a young child that just like to play with trucks this might be something for them, But I think toy trucks out in the fresh air would probably be better for them.
