The booster pack is great as it enchances gameplay without making you feel like you are cheating.You you can play only five cards at a time, and only in such a way that keeps you from getting to big of an advantage over the computer players. I see the booster pack as doing two main things. First, it allows you to have a specific movie/show genre channel (e.g. science fiction shows only channel). Second, it gives you the ability to play with beginner advantages (with you choosing what the advantages are). If you are looking for an expansion addon, this isn't the right one to buy. If you are looking for ways to make the game easier to play, this addon is for you. I wouldn't buy it just for the ability to make a specific genre only channel as that enchancement could use a little more work.

Overall, you can't beat the price for what you get with this addon. Just make sure to read the manual PDF manual that came with TV Manager as that explains in more clarity what the booster pack does.
