Rating: 3.3 (276 votes cast)

Games4U has created an educational and entertaining Maths game for children where we meet Timothy and Basil the Butterfly. Timothy and Basil the butterfly are best friends. The game starts with a story where Timothy, our hero, witnesses Basil being captured by the evil Prince of Darkness. Without thinking too much, Timothy decides to come to his rescue. However, there is only one way to reach the Dark Kingdom, and it leads through the Magic Door. A long time ago, the door was torn down and broken into pieces that were scattered throughout the island. Now its 12 pieces are held by different people. Your job is to visit each person and in exchange for your help they will reward you with a piece of the door. You will experience many adventures on your journey and assist a number of characters. Help Timothy! Save Basil!

  • Impressive Graphics - With the help of the latest technology in creating a 3D world, we reached great achievements -just take a look. Until now, this has never been used in a game for children.
  • Variety - You will find many mini-games within, and their mutual differences makes Timothy suitable for everyone who plays.
  • School by Game - Learning for kids in not just passive, but it helps them to solve troubles with their own creative minds.

The kids really enjoyed this game. I would recommend buying it if you have children and they are looking for something to keep them busy and you would like them to play something that will educate them as well.

This is truly a children's game, but it can be enjoyed by adults as well. As my review is probably going to be the first one, I shall try to review it as best I can.

In terms of graphics, the game is good (I'd say about 8/10). The world has a cartoon look to it, and that is good because it is a children's game after all.

The story is not the most intriguing , but I'd say for kids, it is quite good. It is however quite short (but its for kids so...) 6/10 for the story.

Gameplay: I'd say fun for kids; not much going on for adults. Mostly pointing and clicking around to do what you want. Lots of mini-games to keep the kids occupied and such. For kids 9/10, adults 5/10...

Sounds/Music: Sounds are ok, nothing spectacular. 6/10 So is the music. 6/10

Overall, I'd say the game fetches a fair 4/5 for kids and 2.5/5 for adults. Rating based on the one for kids as the game is aimed for them.

Timothy was part of the 1C Complete Bundle - to my surprise - and ended up with my nephew not wanting to give the computer back.

I couldn't say much about this game, as it is meant for younger children, but it is a proven fact that video games stimulate the brain, and Timothy seems to do it even more, and in a fun way.

I would recommend potential purchasers to keep in mind giving video games to a young child can help development, and Timothy aims to do that. Therefore, I would place the age limit between 1 year old and 9 years old. 9 might be a little bit old, especially for male children, but as long as they don't know violent games exist they'll like sticking to this one ;)

Well, it's an educational game for kids. Not much to say I guess since the usual arguments about games wouldn't really work here.

You get to answer maths questions to progress in the game.

Anyone got a kid to show this to?

This is obviously a children's game and a pretty good one at that. It is bright and colourful, easy to navigate the menu, educational and fun all at the same time. Your kids will love this.
