Sub Command review

Pretty nice game. The mission editor gives the option to create your own stuff, always fun to do.

Have been playing for several hour how and also played some missions twice, but they are different every time.

It was worth my purchase.

Sub Command review

It's been a long road since we thrilled our imaginations with 688 Attack Sub (1988) and Seawolf SSN-21 (1993). Nuke subsims have evolved into complex programs that could--and probably will--be used as off-the-shelf military training aids. A legion of Jane’s 688(I) players will finally be allowed to shelve what players consider the best nuke subsim ever. Prepare to reload your hard drive with something new and exciting. Sonalysts and Electronic Arts are back and this time they’re sporting a subsim that features three nuke subs; the venerable Los Angeles 688(I) class, the new uber-tech Seawolf class, and the Russian Akula class attack sub. While having three playable models in a sim tends to lend itself to the label survey sim, the intricacy and abundance of platform-specific controls from one class of sub to another designates Sub Command as three study sims in one package. And what a slick package it is, too. Sub Command has all the great menu screens, music, intro video, and presentation you have come to expect from Electronic Arts/Sonalysts collaborations. Gone is the Jane’s label but virtually everything you liked about 688(I) and Fleet Command remain—and then some.

GOOD PRICE !

If you like submarine simulations, Sub Command is definitely an excellent choice. As most modern combat simulations, action is few and far-between, but when it happens, you need good nerves and a good deal of experience to do the right thing at the right moment. You'll be carefully tracking enemies on the various sensors of your submarine for hours, trying to tell them from civilian ships minding their own business, while at the same time trying to avoid detection until it's time to open the launch tube. Then all hell breaks lose, and next thing you know you're dead. Or, after a few hours of experience with the sim, maybe you have a chance of hitting AND not bet hit back. Overall a very good experience.

As with most serious sims, the learning curve can be quite steep, but that's what the game ships with a manual for !

Sub Command review

Sub Command is, above all else, a realistic Simulation. It is slow, and requires a lot of thought and a lot of staring at maps and sonar displays. As an accurate and realistic portrayal of modern Nuclear submarine warfare, Sub Command is very good.

To drive even more submarines, there is a mod called SCX/SCXII, which gives Sub Command some advantages over the sequel, Dangerous Waters.
