Save the World Collection review

"A game almost free (10 cents actually) deserves a try", I thought. The mechanical of the gameplay is a classic "go forward and shoot" at any enemy, but the game - sadly - becomes quite boring after a few games. The graphics is terrible even for an indie game! Surely you can find better on the internet, so buy it only if you have cents or blue coins in excess.

Well, not everything we buy is for ourselves, right??? I bought this game for my 6 year old son and he is really enjoying it. But, I must confess that I tried it once and I enjoyedit too. This is the kind of game you want to have at office were you can't play very complex games. For sure they are old school graphics, but they are very well done and the game itself has something that makes you comeback. Don't miss the chance to help these developers by acquiring/gifting this game and let's wait for their upcoming "Live or Death" game. Might as well be a fine addition to our shelves.

There are better games you can play in your web browser

By Zaxter posted 8th July 2012

I did not have very high expectations for this game, having paid 100 blue coins or 10 cents for a flash game. I was already wondering why the game would be at such a low price. I probably should have done some research, but I didn't. The problems started when I installed the game to the desired directory. It contained only a .rar file and an uninstall file. I had to extract the game files even though the game had already been installed. When I loaded it up in my web browser, I was greeted by average graphics and linear, basic gameplay that you would expect from a flash game. I played for a little while and had no desire to continue playing. Trust me, there are much better games out there that you can run in your browser that you can play free of charge. I suppose if you are struggling to find any free games to bring with you on a holiday then this would be alright, considering the price at which I bought it at. But otherwise, just don't buy this game. Play one of the highly rated games on Kongregate, you will be much more satisfied.

Barely worth the Dime really.

By BlueDsc posted 8th July 2012

I'll be honest, I bought this game because it was on sale for a dime and I thought "Eh, why not? Not like I'd be losing any money"

For starters, I only played a bit of the first one, I don't think I could stomach more than that. The game is little more than a flash game really, and not even one of the really fun ones that's an expert at eating time at work. The graphics are horrid, I could barely read the text on the screen, the sounds are beyond annoying, and the controls are terrible. Well, I suppose the controls themselves aren't that bad, more that the game is terrible. The gameplay is little more than hold space to flail your sword while hoping you hit something and holding shift to do what I assume is blocking though it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

All in all, the only reason I say the game was worth the dime is cause of how amusingly bad it was.

Cute fun little game, good for a quick play when you are bored or those days when you dont feel like playing a long term game.

worth 10c not much else

This game's on sale for 10 cents right now, and that's about all it's worth. Had about 20 minutes of fun with it.

Graphics and gameplay aside, this honestly don't belong here. Most definitely not at it's list price. The download in fact consists of a rar file which you have to extract yourself only to get 2 HTML files. Then those open the actual games in your browser.

It's a good way to kill some free time if you have too much of it but these games belongs in a free casual gaming site instead of being listed here for anything more than a dime.

Better save your money / blue coins for anything else. Its just not worth it.

Easily the most amateurish effort I've seen. The installer just creates an uninstall entry and drops a .rar file into C:\Program Files\. Accessing the game requires extracting the .rar and opening one of the 2 HTML files, each of which simply embed a Flash applet hosted on a third-party site. I can't tell you anything about the actual games, because they won't actually run on my computer: the pages simply contain a blank Flash applet and copyright text. These developers should consider monetizing their games with microtransactions on Kongregate, where the audience is bigger, expectations are lower, and you don't need to run an installer for a hosted Flash game.

Just a bad collection of sidescrolling browser games. I've played free games that were better. Save your money

A collection of the Save the World series. This is more of a flash game than a client based game. The game is a typical side scrolling bashing monsters. This could get tedious and repetitive fast as the stages consisted of the same thing over and over again. This game should be aimed towards to more younger audiences, definitely not a game suitable to everyone.

Introducing every element of proceedings is a slick-voiced American actor, discussing the primary goal of each mini-game, encouraging players to jump into the action if the controller is left untouched for too long, and briefing out the tenuous links between the storyline and the on-screen action. Storyline? Yes, Start the Party! Save the World does indeed attempt to draw players in with the premise of the imaginatively named Dr. Terrible threatening a hostile takeover of Mother Earth, taking on the task by using a Move controller and connecting up the PlayStation Eye camera to send him to an early demise through a batch of motion-controlled mini-games included. Frustratingly the voice acting grates considerably after only a short time, so being able to mute the over-the-top chap is a blessing. The story is by no means interesting either, but Dr. Terrible and his evil minions are used in all sorts of ways to explain why players are taking flight in a helicopter to save people from building tops before a monster eats them, or why robots need to be fixed and cleaned in a large factory and so on.

Stay clear of this game!!!!!

I only got it because it cost me 90 blue coins and there was 1 positive review for it on this site.

This game is ... amazingly bad. It looks like some 6 yearold kid programming experiment.

The game itself is an HTML file! It looks terrible, worst controls I've ever seen in a video game.

Why is this on GamersGate?!! Don't touch this thing!

It's kinda odd that they are actually webpage flash games. The games themselves aren't very interesting. They're just very bare-boned sidescrollers. I'm actually pretty sure I've seen this exact same graphic from another game before. I can say most of the free games on GG are at better quality than this one.

Deplorable

By LordKuruku posted 5th July 2012

First of all, this game is about as good as it looks from the screenshots. tmwfte was overly generous in his review, as having "Commodore 64 style graphics" would quite likely be a substantial improvement. I picked it up for $0.25 worth of Blue Coins as a curiosity. If it was any worse than it is, I'd probably demand my coins back. Secondly, it doesn't even manage to be DRM-free. You are required to have an internet connection upon attempting to launch the game. Two HTML files are included in your download. The game data itself, the flash files, are hosted on the website these files link to. They're not even included in the installer, they literally just link you to a web page.

As of this review, it's on sale for $0.10. Frankly, you're better off letting that pittance of Blue Coins rot away on your account. Of course, for $0.10, your curiosity is liable to get the better of you. I would feel immense pity for anybody who paid significantly more than that, but the quality of this game is more than apparent in the screenshots.

No ill-will towards Tiger Studios. We all need money, and a developer needs to start somewhere, I suppose. They probably need our dimes and quarters more than most of us here do (you probably have another coin to replace it with under some sofa cushions or something), so best of luck to them. Give them your money if you're feeling charitable and could use a good laugh. Just don't expect anything actually worth your time and money, though. You won't find it here. If you have Blue Coins burning a hole in your account, try Fortix, Two Thrones, or most any of the countless $2-$3 titles on GamersGate. If you're looking for a cheap platformer to blow some spare coins on, Defy Gravity Extended is a good one to check out.

I can appreciate indie developers creating low-res Flash games, but a browser-based game that essentially charges you for a link? That's...odd.

As to the game itself, it's a fairly repetitive platformer with Commodore 64 style graphics and some slightly glitchy controls.

The game is alright, nothing too exciting. Side scrolling bashing goodness. However, for $0.25 it's not a bad deal. Wouldn't really ever purchase for full price but if you have a few blue coins lying around you can check it out.

Save the World Collection review

By googoogjoob posted 28th June 2012

This is the most appallingly inept game I have ever purchased. Fortunately it was only 25 cents.

The reviewer before me mentioned the technical issues, but I don't think it makes it clear enough that the HTML files which you open in your browser load the game SWF files from the Sploder website- the installed files do not contain either game at all.

As for the games- as far as I played into the first game, it's a dull, repetitive sidescroller where you whack mooks as you progress to the right of each level, and get unexplained upgrades. Every level that I played (which was only the first three, before I gave up in disgust) consists entirely of a flat black "ground" with only occasional, single blocks changing the landscape.

I have no idea where the cover image shown on this site came from; it certainly has nothing to do with the games (which contain neither horses nor samurai, and have an entirely different graphical style). It looks like it was stolen from another game, but I have no idea which.

Anyway, I'm horrified that this game's listed price is $9, and I fear that the devs may have trolled me- their website is a shoddy Blogspot site, with posts about the development of these two games interspersed with screenshots from a CryEngine editor, claims that they've licensed the Source engine, and a few posts about an expansion pack (?) they made for Farming Simulator 2011.

Free to play on Sploder.com

By Carnival73 posted 19th June 2012

This download consists of two HTML files that need to be unrared once the game is installed (installer fails to open the rar). Games play in your default web browser with disconnected links to other games on Sploder (you can find the associated website by right clicking and bringing up Flash options.)

Not sure why developer felt to charge $20 - Fortunately I got it for $2 worth of Blue Coins.

Don't know about Saving the World but hopefully this here will save GG from some disgruntled customers.
