GAME SUMMARY

Silverfall

Rating: 3.8 (101 votes cast)

Silverfall, a once glorious city, lies in the fantastical Kingdom of Nelwë, where the forces of Technology and Nature are strongly opposed. Symptoms of this terrible conflict have begun to manifest physically as melded cyberbiologic organics and living steam-driven automatons.

Drag your hero from the pits of this world and craft him into a mighty champion that can oppose the planet-choking Order of Nothingness. Freedom to evolve in either the technological or spiritual paths is in your hands and you must choose your comrades wisely to provide a balance and benefit to your efforts - but be cautious, any bias in your choices will either corrupt or upgrade the growing world around you.

  • Create & customize your hero (face, sex, skin, hair...) from the 4 Nelwë races (human, elf, goblin & troll).
  • Your hero advances without class limits and with more than 130 skills & magic spells at his disposal.
  • Freely explore a stunning and immense fantasy world!
  • From the floating city of Cloudworks, to the volcanic scenery of the city of Blazis.
  • Revolutionary light and shadow effects combine with a realistic physics engine which gives never seen before detail to the environment & special effects.
  • Playable with up to 8 players in multiplayer mode through either a LAN connection or on the Internet, with cooperative play or PvP.

Silverfall review

Silverfall is a standard Hack-slash RPG with cell-shaded graphics that makes me think of Borderlands for some reasons. The controls/UI are much better if you get the addon Silverfall: EA which (as most have said) is like a big patch for this game (IIRC Gothic II or III did something like that). There are some issues with some quests and the UI but most can be ignored or fixed with fan made micro-patches (Google it.) Even being a bit old I love the look of this game, it just feel right for the story and setting. All and all, pick this up if you are a big RPG fan (like me).

The most special parts of this ARPG are its graphic style and the coexisting magic and technology skills. Other parts are quite generic compare to other ARPG. It does do most of the thing correctly and makes itself a enjoyable game. If you are an ARPG fan and want another ARPG, Silverfall is a worthy choice among others. Do get its expansion pack, it fixes a lot of problem in the original game.

Players interested in Silverfall should pick it up *and* its expansion, Earth Awakening. The expansion is basically a huge patch which adds new content all across the board and polishes the game, making the interface more intuitive and manageable.

While Earth Awakening is a standalone product, you can't play any of the original Silverfall content if you don't also own the original game. Why is this important? Because Earth Awakening starts your character off at level 45 and throws you into its high level campaign, whereas if you have both games (with the expansion installed over the original), you get to start at level 1 as usual and get twice as much bang for your buck.

So if you're going to play Silverfall, I recommend buying its expansion, as well, as it improves on the original game in every way and adds a crafting system, among other things.

Silverfall is a good RPG, although a bit rough around the edges its a pretty game that has a interesting champ development, unlike most rpgs you don't fill a role and you can respec your tree at anytime you are in town. So you can be a crazy awesome warrior one minute and then an amazing mage.

The controls are a bit weird and you must have companions to do anything really there is no room to try to solo in this game you just end up dying alot.

Graphics are still impressive to this day.

Story is ok so far, not amazing not bad just ok.

All in all if you like rpgs pick it up if not then you have not missed anything.
