The Settlers®: Heritage of Kings review

As Someone who comes from playing Age of Empires back in the day, I found that Settlers: Heritage of Kings was a very refreshing game to start out with, As I got into the game, however I found that just as in Age of Empires you spend a large amount of time planning how to expand as your villagers gather the resources you need to do so.

Where Heritage of Kings differs from most RTS games is in its focus. In most RTS games, you usually start a level with a fair bit of building and end it with a lot of combat. But in Heritage of Kings, the ratio is more like 90 percent building and 10 percent combat. This keeps in line with the earlier Settlers games, as the series has always been more about medieval city building than Command & Conquer. As such, your goal is to build a sprawling, interdependent web of buildings, where workers and peasants go about their daily lives. It's a very charming and engaging formula, at first. However, the further you get into the game, the more you realize that you're not so much playing Heritage of Kings than you are simply sitting around waiting to gather the mountain of resources you need to build up the same huge, interconnected web of buildings over and over again.

This game is awesome, great story line, nice line up of characters and at under a tenner, a bargain to boot. I've played this game before and love it so if you like a good strategy game you can't go wrong with this. 5 Stars. Will mention it's not on the same format as the other settler games though I don't personally see that as a bad thing.

I found this game to be quite dull and bland. Somehow they have managed to create a game somewhere in between a cutie strategy game and a serious one. Missing both marks and ending up with a game which really doesn't quite satisy anyone.

If you do love all them settlers games maybe you will like it. I haven't played a settlers game since one of the first ones, and bought this hoping for something similar. It wassn't quite what I had hoped.
