GAME SUMMARY

Puzzle Bots

Rating: 4 (17 votes cast)

The robots are escaping.

There’s a big secret at Dr. Hugo’s Factory for Making Robots. When the inventors aren’t looking, their tiny robots go on big adventures. They never expected to stumble onto a plot so diabolical it threatened their very existence. With lasers.

It all starts when Zander - possibly the world’s most absent-minded inventor - trips over a metal box buried outside the factory. When no-one can figure out how to open it, the robots sneak out and try it for themselves. What they discover is the first step to a grand adventure, leading to a mystery as old as the factory itself.

Join the robots as they outwit mischievous children, curious animals, and dysfunctional inventors in their quest to find the truth. Will the robots solve the mystery before it’s too late?

Find out by visiting Dr. Hugo’s factory yourself!

Casual Adventure reminiscent of LucasArts

By mendel posted 12th Dec 2011

This game was a joy to play both for my 10-year-old son, who doesn't even speak that much English yet, and myself, who's an experienced gamer with quite a few adventures under his belt, including some of the harder Infocom ones. The reason for this is that Puzzle Bots is very accessible and easy to get the hang of, yet the setting is wacky and the writing witty enough to keep me interested. Erin Robinson's writing and puzzle designs clearly owe a lot to the better LucasArts titles.

The game has 9 self-contained "levels" that you need to solve with an increasing number of bots: in the beginning you start out with just two bots, but in the end you have to get five of them to cooperate. The way the storyline is divided means that you don't have to drag an item around for hours just because you might need it later, everything you find is actually useful quite soon, yet you still feel quite clever at having figured out that riddle yet again (the last one is quite complex).

If you like to think creatively and enjoy a good story, this game is for you, and well worth its price.

P.S.: If you want more when you're done, try the free game "Nanobots", also by Erin Robinson: that one's too difficult for casual players, but you've already got some practice now, right?

Puzzle Bots a nice but short adventure game.

It is a rather nice puzzle/adventure game with puzzles that were hard enough that I could not always find the solution right away, but not so hard that I needed to look at a walk-through.

I would give this game a higher rating but it was really short and has no replay value.

For the price I paid for it on sale it was well worth it, but it only offers a few evenings of play time.
