One of the best games of all time... NWN!!

By csuperman7 posted 18th March

Neverwinter Nights is one of the best games of all times. With very innovative gameplay and great graphics(at least when it came out), it is a stellar RPG. It has never ending replayability and is one of the few games that stands the test of time. I've owned this game probably 7 or 8 times, and just bought it again to give it another playthrough (I keep losing my copies). This game, like Deus Ex and a handful of others, are one of the must-play PC games.

And this one includes the 3 expansions, which inlcude the official Bioware mods (which I haven't played yet). And, you can download tens of thousands of user made quests and mods to make this a truly unique and everchanging experience!

Great game with so many hours and huge character possibilities. personally I like the old baldurs gate style graphics than the 3d in this game but its acceptable.

I can remember thrashing the CD for this game into oblivion when it came out first time. I always had fond memories of it and bought it again here at GG so I could have a permanent digital copy of it. I have too many games in my catalogue to give it the attention it deserves, so if you have never experienced the franchise I urge you to play it - even if you have a negative opinion of Bioware's recent forays. Those were the days when not many developers could hold a torch to Bioware's RPG games.

Great game that manages a decent blend of old school and accessibility. One of the big draws of the game was always the player created stuff and the community for this game is still strong, so you'll get a ridiculous amount of content to play, some of it better than the main game itself!

I've played this with my girlfriend for well over a month, just the two of us playing through the two expansion campaigns. We've been having a blast and we're quite pleased with it. It's definitely good for some light two-player coop with the included campaigns. I look forward to trying out some of the community made campaigns. Definitely recommend.

Bought this at a ridiculously low price in a GG sale! What to say that hasn't already been said about such an old classic?

Well, the consensus of 10 years or so of reviews is that the single player campaign is not so good and the game only really shines in multiplayer. I'd totally agree with this. The original single player campaign is too full of tired old cliches. Once again, the world is in danger yet the mighty and powerful are going to do nothing about it. No, the Great and Good just stand around contemplating their navels while you, a total nobody who can barely tie his shoelaces is going to have to go out and save the world. Again.

Luckily, the platinum package includes the expansions that are somewhat better than the original, with better stories and characters. But even then, the lacklustre graphics and clunky control system aren't enough to really captivate. It was at that point, that I thought I'd try multiplayer before giving up on the game.

After all, the thing is that NWN is a *construction set* , with the existing campaigns provided just to get you going. Amazingly, there are still plenty of servers with multiplayer NWN1 even now. My favourite is the persistent world called Arelith. All owners of this game should go try this. It is a fantasticaly well created world and shows what the NWN engine is capable of. Even better, with human companions it is about as close to role playing as is possible without actually sitting in the same room with people and rolling a bunch of 48 sided die. That alone makes my NWN purchase money well spent...now I'm off to see how NWN2 compares (thanks to another GG sale!)

The original campaign and the expansion SOU are lackluster (and get about 4 stars), but HOTU definitely earns 5 stars. If you like customizing builds, creating your own character/weapons, and playing with mods, then Neverwinter Nights Diamond will promise an easy 100+ hours of entertainment.

A classic with hundreds of hours of gameplay waiting for you. The graphics are really old school, even compared to the sequel, but the camera is a lot less problematic than the sequel. A must have for D&D fans.

It's time to break out the black robes and blow the dust off your lucky d20, because NWN is here. For this game you must ask yourself a few questions, do you know how to play DnD? If not are you welling to learn? If not, than skip this game. Yes, there is some learning involved but once you get past that it's a great game. Having been very into DDO and such other DnD based game I have a head start on how to play, however the rules here are much more detailed than DDOs rules. The character maker will basically let you make anything you want, be that the best character ever or someone so weak rats will eat them alive. Yes, you are allowed to fail but that's what makes it great, as you learn more about the game you get better and can make still better characters. This adds great replay value. Keep in mind also that NWN is the root of a lot of great games, the engine used for the game was also used for games such as Knights of the old Republic and the Witcher. As far as graphics I would say they're PSX era, good, not great. All and all, my suggestion to would-be-buyers of this game is take a look at how to make a character, if you are overwhelmed by choice skip this game.

A great collection of the first Neverwinter Nights and its expansions. I remember playing this game as a young kid, enjoying it so much. Although I didn't exactly play fair back then :P. Playing this again is great, and using so many mods that I didn't even know existed makes this a great change to the whole experience. Reinvigorating my vigor, and making me purchase the second one. Overall a great game, I'd recommended it to any rpg fan who likes fantasy-based settings.

Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition by BioWare™

by Greg G Lusienski July 28,2011

Neverwinter Nights was release to the general public in Jul 18, 2002 and became a sensation blood lust for the D20 Fan base of D&D by Wizards of The Coast. Its epic story line hooks players right from the beginning and keeps them hacking away at the game for hours on end. Not only could you play the standard races Elf, Human, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome, Half Orc, it had an option to enter in a sub-race to play. The game took players through a complex and dangerous Forgotten Realms fantasy world setting filled with danger from rogues, looters, and powerful mages that lurk around corners. With undead plaguing the streets of Neverwinter your job was to find the cure to what ills the people of the kingdom of Neverwinter and to bring forth the guilty to be punished by Lord Nasher.

Neverwinter could be played as single player or group of up to 64 players playing via private LAN or by internet connection.

The Neverwinter Night also gave the player the freedom to create their own content with the Auora Nights game tool set that comes with each game. This feature gave the player the ability to build landscapes, dungeons, forests, cities, castles and inns and place dragons, undead and magical traps to challenge those that dared search their realms for gold and treasure to be looted.

The Neverwinter was followed up by two more epic story-lines that took player for continued adventures: Hordes of the Underdark and Shadows of Undrentide along with three other mini-adventures from BioWare™ that now come with Diamond edition. This game has fallen out of favor with server gamers only to come rushing back to it time and time again. The Neverwinter Night sold for $49.98 when it was released from BioWare™ in 2008 and now sells on GamersGate.com for $9.98 which is a steal for young gamers wanting an epic game that they will enjoy time and time again.

In closing I give this game Personal 5 Stars! Loot grab this game...

I think it would be cool if Wizards of the Coast created a Magic the Gathering card for NeverWinter Nights. If NeverWinter Nights is placed in a graveyard or forced to be discarded the owning player may place NeverWinter Nights back into hand and play again. Five 5 black to summon deals damage equal to the number of cards that NeverWinter Night land on top of in grave yard. Comes into play untapped and blocks for the number of cards in graveyard.

Wow, what a collection!

If your only criteria for a PC game was bang per buck, well you have it in spades here, Neverwinter Nights, its two expansions , Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark, PLUS the Kingmaker expansion, which contains the mods Witches Wake, Kingmaker and ShadowGuard.

This particular release is not as described, "fully up to date", after installation you will have to download an extra patch, which should only take a couple of minutes, then you are ready to go!

The great thing about this game is that apart from its own intrinsic quality, plus the expansions and mods, it also allows you to get the chance to play all the other mods available for this game, due to its huge fanbase and the toolset which is like modders nirvana.

Neverwinter Nights, the game that just keeps on giving!
