Medieval Battlefields review

By ComradeGunnar posted 24th April

Medieval Battlefields is a great little game that is well worth the price. People who've never been able to grasp turn-based strategies will have no problem with this and will get nearly instant gratification when destroying units and sieging castles. And those of us who're more experienced will enjoy the higher difficulty and online play.

It's not complex at all, and it doesn't offer anything in terms of innovation or something new to the Turned-based strategy genre. But for a game with a $5(2.50 during this sale) price point you shouldn't necessarily expect those types of things.

For anyone who wants a quick turn-based strategy fix that they can play on and off with really no long story commitments, along with it being quite fun I recommend this game. And hey, it also includes multi-player, so once you beat the campaign you'll still have things to do. And as I've said, that's not bad at all for the price.

Overall, Medieval Battlefields was a no brainer for Cateia games; a cheap, effective addition to the many low budget turn-based strategy games on the market. Battlefields does little to stand out, but it does nail the basics with simple mechanics, clean visuals and presentation, if lacking in creativity. But if you're looking for a straightforward strategy diversion on the cheap, look no further than Medieval Battlefields.

Medieval Battlefields really surprised me - it is really nice turn-based game. A lot of units, building, upgreades, enemies - this game is casual, but not easy! And it costs only 5 euro. If you like strategy games, you skould buy it.

Very small, cheap, rushed game. Very simplistic. II really disliked Medieval Battlefield. I played for maybe 2 hours before deleting it for good. I am all for supporting indie games, but this one is not good at all.

Even if you like turn-based strategy, as I do, this one is not worthy your money and time. The only redeemable quality would be the fact that you can modify your units having access to the data, but who wants to do that for a game that is not good anyway?

I do not recommend this game even at the current price, it is just a waste of time.

Definitely one of the simplest and easiest strategy games to learn I have ever played. I was able to learn the game fairly quickly without ever having to consult the manual. Interface is fluid, and AI is sharp and challenging. Strategy veterans might have more fun with something a bit more in depth like WWII Time of Wrath. Great choice for beginners like me though.

This game is probably worth twice the price of $5 if you like TB games. Lots of variety, plus the dev was nice enough to give us access to the XML files. So you can modify the data to your heart's content.

At $5, buy it and support these folks.

Best to all!

This little game gives you realy good tactical moments.

The rules are few and easily understandable but you will need some thinking to go anywere past the first levels in campaign mode.

Any unit is good as far as you know how to use it and nearly any building gives you the opportunity to buy upgrades for your army.

While the upgrades for the army are "global" (any unit will benefit from them as far as the upgrade is intended for that particular type) the buildings are property of the single castle so you will do better if you specialize a castle for a particular unit type - and you will be able to buy only one army upgrade for castle in a turn so having different buildings in different castles will give you the opportunity to buy more upgrades at once.

The AI seems good, even if I don't know if it will be able to engage really expert players.

For the price a real bargain!!!!
