Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe Edition UK review

What a fantastic game!

A whole lot different from Mass Effect I.

They removed the "repeateable" element, and kept the great story. The only thing that is regretable is the constat search for ressources and the way you eed to scan planets + send probes to gather ressources.

*drats*.

In my book - Top 3 Game of the year!

Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe Edition UK review

Mass Effect 2 is a great improvement on Mass Effect 1, first of all the story is allot dark and more mature, the game focuses allot more on your companions and their story's with the main plot kinda hanging their for you to finish when you feel like it. The combat is allot better in the this one than in the first, it feels allot more like a action shooter then an rpg, biotic abilitys feel more powerful, and over all the combat just flows much better. Graphic look way better then the first and the game runs even better, to draw a comparison, I could run mass effect 1 at max graphics getting 25-30fps and suffering for ''lag'' spikes, and my cpu usage would be about 90%, in mass effect 2 I run at a constant 50+fps with everything maxed out, and my cpu usage is about 40-50%, I don't know what changes the made to the engine, but damn I love them for it.

One draw back is the exploration system, the meko is gone(they are adding a vehicle called the hammerhead that is suppose to come out soon), the way you scan planets for minerals is fun at first but after about 10planets it gets incredibly boring and repetitive, there are about 5ish planets you can go down on and explore which each are pretty short, but over all this does not detract from the game experience, atleast not for me.

To cap it of, I would give Mass Effect 2 a 8/10 rating, if you liked the first this one this one is a must have, if you like sci fi games or story driven rpgs I would highly recommend this one, it is a fine standalone game, but you will get allot more enjoyment out of the game if you have played the first.
