Majesty 2 Monster Kingdom Expansion

Rating: 4.3 (171 votes cast)

The King would imagine that Ardania belongs to him alone, and his advisor supports him in this ignorance, forgetting that there are two sides to every coin. As mentioned in the ancient scriptures of Murphius:“Try as you might to do something that everybody likes, there is always someone who does not.” Soon, the hard truth of these words will reveal itself to the Great King in full.

And what will he do, and where will he go, should everyone turn against him? Well, not his loyal Advisor, of course, but all those petty nobles and the Conclave. It will be a difficult challenge to maintain the righteous command. Determination will be his greatest weapon, and sacrifices will have to be made. But just how far is the King ready to go in this dire situation?

And the situation is dire indeed. The High Priests have stolen the Crown of Ardania, to summon the Spirit of the Kings and proclaim it the righteous ruler. Your Majesty, you who so bravely defeated Barlog, have lost your throne, and must now fight to reclaim it. The Nobles support the Conclave, and your only hope is to find new allies, those who no one, even you, would ever expect to be join you. Once again you must heed the wisdom of your Advisor, in hopes that with his guidance you may bring peace back to Ardania.

Majesty 2 Monster Kingdom Expansion review

I always enjoyed the original Majesty game, but have found that some of the Majesty 2 content and expansions have been somewhat irritatingly difficult to complete (for me at least!).

Notwithstanding that, Majesty 2 is great, and Monster Kingdom is by far the best expansion :)

This xpack is different from the rest as there are 10 (not 8) new mission this time. The missions are once more harder than the base game so but ready for a challenge (most likely a timed one as well.) All and all, another good addon but I would wait for a sale unless you are a Majesty pro.

The Monster Kingdom is a very fun expansion for Majesty 2. The ability to play the monsters you fought against for so long is great.

I had a great time playing it, and as the original game, it is a bit more difficult than other games (though once you figured it out, it becomes easier).

A good expansion to continue the gameplay, but the difficulty been toned down compared to the other, still a had a great time and a very interesting story to go along with the new campaign. Highly recommend getting this even tho it lost a little bit challenge.

Still a dim shadow to Majesty 1, even after they ironed out a (incredibly) large amount of bugs. The game doesn't retain the first's feel or charm.

The difficulty in this one was massively improved, as was the map progression. Mostly doesn't add anything new, but good enough to play through. Best of the Majesty 2's, especially since the final boss isn't a 8 billion hit point 18 hour monstrosity like the first Majesty 2.

Majesty 2 embarks on its best expansion yet, adding monster sidekicks and softening the difficulty level to the real-time king simulation.

Innovative premise puts you on the side of the monsters you used to kill.

Not as insanely tough as the earlier expansions in the series.

Fair mission design that doesn't demand trial-and-error experimentation.

The new campaign, though a bit difficult at first, is pretty fun, and the monsters give Majesty 2 a bit more variety. I think the only thing that would majorly improve it is to allow the monsters to be used in single missions.

Fantastic expansion for a fantastic game. Please try to get the word out of what a great new expansion this is. The monster race is a ton of fun to play and they have added more content in this expansion than any of the others.

Incredible end for a incredible game... hope is not the end this but... this expansion is all what we was missing in previous games, new units, buildings, ways to fight, to move, very very enjoyable expansion and one of the most funny games i played last times.

This expansion ends Majesty 2's storyline on a high note. The campaign is overall a bit easier than M2 Battles of Ardania, but missions still require forethought and planning for success. The missions support a certain degree of strategic flexibility: rushing, turtling, tower crawls, etc. were all effective tactics for me at various points.

While I'm not a fan of timed missions in general, most of the quests with stricter time limits are optional challenges that don't effect the overall mission's success. For the most part I could play at my own pace.

The general mechanics are familiar, and some of Majesty 2's flaws regarding unit AI and successfully balancing challenge vs. fun are still present. However, the new units and buildings give Monster Kingdom a genuinely fresh feel. Upgrade paths are overhauled. Monster heroes behave differently from their human counterparts and have different strengths and weaknesses. Building up an army of ratmen, werewolves and minotaurs brings back some of the fun and personality in the original Majesty that was lacking in earlier Majesty 2 releases.

My main criticism is that the English text translation is really poor. Thankfully this doesn't effect the quality of the voiceovers. I found this expansion to be more demanding on hardware than the previous Majesty 2 games; lesser systems may need to dial down quality settings to get playable framerates and avoid crashes.

Overall, this is a must-buy for Majesty 2 fans. It is my favorite of the three expansions, offering a fun campaign and a wealth of new content.

An awesome new adventure with the monster race. This expansion rocks. New Monsters, new buildings, new scenario (which I found really interesting but also more challenging).

If you like Majesty series, I recommend to buy this expansion.

This game will always be my favorite game ever

I give 5/5

Monster kingdom is wonderful, it surpases majesty 2 in my opinion, there are still a few glitches but hopefully theyll get patched soon, i love the twist of having monsters on your side while fighting the humans, and finally the long awaited return of the gnomes. the only 2 things this game lacks are ingame shop items for the monster side and standalone missions, but other than that this game is my favorite so far.

This expansion has a lot of time based hard quests in it.....that makes me a sad panda

Great expansion though and the new race gives a fresh spin on things

fixed a few balance issues aswell

only problem is it costs more than the original and the other 2 expansions put together. If it goes under $5 like the others are then definatley grab it

Fun and challenging. A great reboot to Majesty 2, and the absence of easily-obtained healers forces you to alter your play style and try something different. The scenarios are generally creative and interesting, and the mix of new units really makes things interesting. Unfortunately, a lousy translation job tarnishes an otherwise nice package, and so does the lack of any standalone scenarios with the monster faction. At least the narrator returns and does a great job - he ignores the translation and says something that makes sense. :)

At this point I am only into the second scenario, but the new expansion is pretty awesome.

The new combined classes, new graphics, and game play is just spot on.

Unlike the two previous expansions the difficulty level seems to scale a little better. No more just ramping right up.

All in all, a very enjoyable traipse through the country side.
