GAME SUMMARY

Lost Planet® 2 PC Edition

Rating: 4 (59 votes cast)

The larger than life action of Lost Planet 2, comes to PC! Lost Planet 2 is the sequel to Lost Planet™: Extreme Condition, the landmark third-person shooter which debuted on Xbox 360 and went on to sell over 2.3 million units worldwide after its release. Lost Planet 2 offers deeper insight into the world of E.D.N III and the uncertain fate of future mankind.

Already acclaimed for its visual accomplishments from the console versions, Lost Planet 2 will define the 3D experience on the PC.  Stunning environments will immerse the player in NVIDIA Vision Surround technology, and the rebalanced gameplay and streamlined control mechanics make Lost Planet 2 PC the ultimate Lost Planet experience.

A decade has passed since the events of the first game, and the face of E.D.N. III has changed dramatically. Terraforming efforts have been successful and the ice has begun to melt, giving way to lush tropical jungles and harsh unforgiving deserts. Mankind has engaged in a civil war to take control of the precious Thermal Energy that powers weapons and vehicles on E.D.N. III and resulted in a separation into various factions.

Players will control heroes from each faction across 6 interconnected episodes, viewing the war from the perspective of each, creating a truly unique interactive experience. With this concept, players will have the opportunity to engage in the story in a much more dynamic way as plot threads evolve from different players’ perspectives.

The intense and action-packed campaign mode comes with the ability to form teams of up to 4 players online. Beyond the deep single-player and co-op modes, Lost Planet 2 is loaded with extensive multiplayer modes allowing up to 16 players to compete online, each with their own customizable avatar.

No action game would be complete without an arsenal of weaponry, and Lost Planet 2 has a huge variety of hardware for players to unleash on unsuspecting enemies. Machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers, lasers, sniper rifles, grenades and a host of other weapons are scattered across the game. The grappling hooks that made the gameplay in Lost Planet a true 3-D experience are back, allowing gamers to gain tactical advantage by moving to elevated locations quickly.

Lost Planet 2’s biggest weapons come on two legs: the heavily armed and armored robotic Vital Suits return in greater numbers and variety than the first game. There are VS that transform into other vehicles, hold up to three players and some that even take multiple players to operate.

Key Features:

  • Co-op action: Team up to battle the giant Akrid in explosive 4 player online co-operative play. Teamwork is the player’s key to victory as the team is dependent on each other to succeed and survive.
  • Massive scale of enemies: Players skill on the battlefield and ability to work as a team will be tested like never before against the giant Akrid. Players will utilize teamwork tactics, new weapons and a variety of vital suits (VS) to fight these larger-than-life bosses.
  • Beautiful massive environments: Capcom’s advanced graphics engine, MT Framework 2.0, and DirectX 11 support will bring the game to life with the next step in 3D fidelity and performance.  See Lost Planet 2’s world through new eyes, with support for hardware tessellation and compute shader.
  • Deep level of character customization: Players will have hundreds of different ways to customize their look, nom de guerre, emotes, and weapons to truly help them define their character on the battlefield. A wide array of customizable abilities range from taking less damage, to running faster to operating data posts quicker
  • Rewards System: Players will receive rewards for assisting teammates and contributing to the team’s success
  • Multiplayer: Compete in 16-player multiplayer matches with nine different maps and 5 different game modes including Data Post Battle, Akrid Egg Battle, Fugitive, Elimination and Team Elimination. Additional maps will be available as downloadable content after the game’s release.
  • Exciting new VS features- Based on fan feedback, the team has implemented an unbelievable variety of Vital Suits and new ways to combat VS’s.  The new VS system will have a powerful impact on the way the player takes to the war zone in Lost Planet 2

Lost Planet® 2 PC Edition review

A very nice third-person shooter, if you have a coop friend it's gonna be very fun if you have more even better, the MP is sort of dead sadly, if you have a chance to get it on sale do so cause it will keep you busy for a few, the graphics and details of the game are amazing, apart the controls a bit problematic cause of the cam, also there's a lot of kind of enemies that will block your way so be ready to everything, from local fauna to a special organization.

Lost Planet® 2 PC Edition review

Lost Planet 2 is a third-person shooter. The story takes place back on E.D.N. III 10 years after the events of the first game. Game runs as well as the first game and looks absolutely gorgeous! Shooting the monsters feels nice and overall the movement works. Though at some cases you can't see anything because of the camera.. I gave this game only 3 stars because of the darn games for windows live system. That should have never came on PC. Overall Lost Planet 2 is a great game designed to play in co-op with preferred 4 player team. If you wan't a good co-op monster slaying game, buy this.

Lost Planet® 2 PC Edition review

This game has problems. Getting those out of the way first, the only one I observed that actually meant anything were the keyboard and mouse controls. They can be awful at times, especially mouse aiming. It is very difficult to hit a target straight on because the game fights you every second of the way, but you eventually get used to its awkwardness and notice it less, to the point of eventually forgetting about it, and this is worth doing. Why shouldn't this point come into consideration?

Because this game is excellent. Every review I read about it suggested it wasn't, but I honestly don't know what they were talking about. For one, none of them mentioned the terrible mouse control, but this game is a riot. It plays a bit like an arcadey third person shooter, where your objective is basically to fight you way through hordes of enemies. Along the way you pick up various weapons and commandeer extremely satisfying robotic mechs to gun down anything that gets in your way.

The game is split into chapters, which each follow a different set of people, from a band of soldiers, to a squad of commandos, to a lonesome group of desert wanderers, etcetera, who all get drug into some of the most spectacular and dangerous events. All of these are exciting and unexpectedly rewarding. One has the desert fighters racing across a speeding train, gaining ground one car at a time against their humanoid adversaries when a giant sand worm erupts from the ground and starts eating the train car by car. Well, things just got a bit more dangerous. The desert flies past as you desperately scramble to the front of the car where a huge prototype cannon is mounted, on its way to distant military forces. Your squad ends up using it to blast the worm to pieces, arming and reloading it as best they can while some soldiers man side guns on the car to keep away vicious little beasties crawling up its sides, while still others fight to keep the overheating control room from bursting into flames. Substitute these AI companions for real life coop partners, and winning against the worm is one of the most satisfying, exciting experiences you'll have in a while.

At first I was skeptical, but this game has proven to be one exciting, death-defying adventure at every moment, and I love it. The variety in the environments, the ability to level up your character, the coop gameplay, and the teamwork required to complete objectives are outstanding.

I bought this game without looking at the meta rating score...oops. I have played it for about an hour and am not impressed a bit. The graphics are not bad, but the controls are very different from any other FPS. Mouse controls feel as if they still rely on a game pad targeting configuration. I was hoping for more free range of maps as well, but the ones I have played so far are short and narrow.

Basically I was looking for a game that would hold me over till BF3 as I am tired of BC2... But this is not the game, not even close. I give it 2-3 stars.

One of the best third-person shooters to ever grace the PC. Lost Planet 2 PC Edition isn't just a carbon-copy of the console version, it's an enhanced, upgraded version of it. With gameplay tweaks and a huge graphics boost (if your PC can handle it), this edition is the definite version, a must buy for any Lost Planet fan.
