Charming... but not very good

By Vyranthas posted 24th March

I really tried to like this game, because it does have some qualities (and quite a lot of charm!), but after a while I felt like I couldn't keep on playing anymore. It's hard to point out exactly what is wrong with the game - I think it's more about the general lack of polish... it's just not very well-made. It might be worth checking out... just don't expect too much from it.

KnightShift review

Had an hour sit down with this yesterday and my over all opinion is that for $5 you really can't go wrong with this game but any more than $10 and you would be pushing it.

To clarify things, this is not another Spellforce. There are three different modes and character control remains the same for all three modes = left click to select character, left click where you want character to go, left click once on enemy to begin a string of auto attacks. Everything is from a top down perspective but you can zoom in close the action.

Where the RPG hybrid comes into play is that your main character gains levels, can find and equip items and weapons and has special options to select.

Campaign mode plays out like Diablo with a comical story backing it.

RPG is exactly like campaign mode but you are not restricted by a linear story - you select a character, map and walk around the map completing quests with the sole goal of building up your character.

RTS has same action and controls as previous modes however there is no story and instead of walking around the map to level up you use the map to do typical old-school RTS things like farm resources to build structures to manufacture units to battle against an opponent whom is doing the same.

Overall $5 is worth it for admission just to check it out. It's a very good effort and looks great for a game that is so old.
