King Kong is easily one of the best movie licensed games out there. That might not sound like much of a recommendation given what usually passes for a movie licensed game. But when you take into account the fact that I'm saying it's not too far short of a Chronicles of Riddick level of quality it does say something about the game.
The game may be labelled as a first person shooter, but to be honest with you that doesn't really give an accurate picture of what you can expect. You're not gunning down the local wildlife with hundreds of rounds at your disposal.
You have a bare minimum of ammo which is occasionally topped up by a friendly pilot air dropping in supplies to help keep you and your crew alive. Most of the time you're using spears and gigantic ribs from the skeletons that litter the island to fend off the ferocious fauna.
Graphically the game is very polished. Sure, it's about 6 years old now and it's obviously not bleeding edge anymore, but the art guys did a fine job in depicting the island and its inhabitants in ways that are still rather impressive at times.
About my only real criticism is how the King Kong sections don't make use of the mouse's superior ability to control the camera in third person and you get lumped with a fixed camera instead. It doesn't often get in the way, but it's needlessly inhibiting all the same.
