Gothic review

Gothic 1 is still among the best rpgs around, even though it is getting rather dated. However unlike other older rpgs, Gothic 1's advanced age is not as apparent, as it was one of earliest games made with the same style that many modern rpgs still follow. This includes: Fully voiced characters, open world design, non-linear story, and much more. Definetly worth a try.

Plunge into one of the most iconic medievalish RPGs. The atmosphere is quite dark, and the game is difficult, so don't expect you can survive with an attitude of a tourist. If you're up to the challenge however, and if you can forgive the interface controls and get used to the combat, you will find the Gothic world very rewarding.

The starting point of an decent RPG series. The open world style is very addictive, and the story and setting are quite nicely done. However, the contral is quite bad, you will need quite some time to get used to it. Once you get over the contral issue, you have many hours of enjoyable gameplay waiting for you.

Tough-Interface at first; but this game kinda grows on you where you begin to forget the clunky interface or the old graphics. I recommend this game to an avid fan of the series.

Getting older sucks, but with age comes understanding and wisdom, however when you're a video game you don't have such gifts and thus your shortcoming become very noticeable. Anyhow, enough jibber-jabber, the game is fun, for the most part, if you can get past a few (a lot) of flaws. The first is the graphics, they have not ages well, they are akin to dreamcast / late PSX era which in to say not very good. The second flaw is the controls, they are bad, very bad. The mouse is only used to move the camera which bobs around like you're on a boat (no "on a boat" jokes here.) The control issue that bothers me the most is to pick up items you have to hit the action button (ctrl, which I rebound to E) plus forward (up arrow which I rebound to W.) So to pick up an item you have to make sure the name of the item is highlighted, hold action and walk to it. Very odd. To equip items you have to open you're bag, highlight to item, hold action and walk up, or down to de-equip. Why couldn't this be done with a click? I don't know. Aside from the short comings the game it features an open world, tons of quests and multiple paths for the unnamed hero (aka you.)

All and all, if you don't mind clunky controls and bad graphics you can get many hours of fun out of this game. But note you must be a fan of old school RPGs as there is zero hand holding, meaning in game they never tell you how to pick up items or fight or even how to open your bag. You must, and get ready for this one, think and figure it out for yourself. Something that might shock some.

A great sandbox style RPG that allows freedom to explore, any choice you make will open a different path making this game REPLAYABLE! Combats needs a little time to get used to because there is some reflex element involved which alot of rpg player tends not to have(including me). But this game offers so much more than what meets the eyes, 10/10 in gameplay, 10/10 in story ,8/10 in graphics. A must get for any RPG gamer or for anyone who is interested in trying out sandbox RPGs

One of the best RPG´s of all time. Controls are not the best but you use to them passing time. You will always remenber this game. A must have for any one who likes rol
