Rating: 4.1 (92 votes cast)

Ubisoft's award-winning shooter that was founded on the PC returns with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter™ 2, designed specifically for the PC gamer by GRIN. Building on the foundation of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, the sequel is a near-future warfare masterpiece. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for the PC screams tactics, and you'll need to bring your best to bear if you are going to get the Ghosts past their latest challenge...

It's 2014, and the soldier of the future returns to encounter a new and more imminent threat along the recently completed wall on the U.S./Mexico border. The Ghosts are more powerful with an upgraded Integrated Warfighter System (IWS), but will have only 72 hours to assess the threat and stop the rebels from reaching U.S. soil. With a border that's 1,900 miles long and an enemy that doesn't play by the rules, this is a job for the U.S. military's most elite fighting unit. This is a job for the Ghosts.

Vastly Improved Multiplayer

Huge variety of modes from classic team deathmatch to the exclusive recon vs. assault.

Top-Notch Tactical Gameplay

PC-exclusive tactical maps and non-linear missions in both indoor and outdoor environments.

More Options Mean More Strategies

Your team is more customizable and has grown with the addition of a communications specialist. New team play options abound including the "bubble system," which rewards players for more cohesive teamwork.

All-New Battlegrounds

For the first time ever, the Ghosts will defend U.S. soil from a cross-border attack, taking the fight to all-new locations. The Ghosts will battle enemies in mountain terrains, barren deserts, and even protect their home turf in El Paso, Texas. Each environment presents its own benefits and challenges and will call for fresh tactical approaches.

More Technology and Firepower

All systems have been upgraded to give players more power and control on the battlefield, including an improved Cross-Com. Cross-Com 2.0 will go full screen with the click of a button, enabling you to deliver more precise and deadly attacks.

Overhauled Graphics and AI

Battle your way through a highly realistic near-future warfare experience against a much smarter enemy. They'll try to flank your position or gain strategic vantage points in order to take you down. But don't worry - your team has your back. Their AI has been upgraded as well. They'll feed you more of the information you need with descriptive commands like "enemy spotted behind red truck ahead."

GRAW 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first game, though you needn't have played it to understand what's going on. Mexican rebels have some nukes and are setting up shop next to the Texas border, and you, as a member of an elite U.S. Army Special Forces unit, must stop them.

A delightful tactical first person shooter, with a great variety and graphics that still hold up well to this day. The only downside is the occasionally insipid AI of your squad, but that is a minor quibble for an otherwise great game.

An Incredible Tactical FPS

By aranos420 posted 11th August 2011

GRAW 2 is an amazing tactical FPS. Why?

1) Team control. You can set up extremely detailed plans via the Cross-Com system, which is an overhead map display, allowing you to set waypoints and give orders. You can directly order your teammates if you wish - simply select a teammate, an order, and click on-screen to have the perform the task. Your team AI is intelligent and never gave me pause to question if I had artificial squadmates.

2) The gameplay is brutal, yet satisfying. There's nothing quite like ordering your teammates to defend opposite positions on a road while you cover another approach and dropping the enemy with ease because of your tactical decisions. This game should not be approached like a typical FPS - we're talking stealth and one-shot kills. Of course, if one bullet kills the enemy, the same can be said of you!

3) The graphics stand up well by today's standards, as does the audio. The whispered replies from your teammates, the puff of dirt as a sniper's bullet strikes the ground near your feet... Visual and audio combine for a tense experience.

Since the game is more complex than the run-of-the-mill FPS, the controls are also more complex, and take some adjustment. Patience will reward you. Enjoy!

GRAW 2 is not as good as its predecessor. The AI is often blind and does not see you, and your teammates are no better. It has a great soundtrack, and it can definitely be exciting at times, the graphics are good, and the sound quality is pretty top-notch, too. Missing features drag it down, though, including some of those present in GRAW that are no longer present in its sequel, including basic mobility options like the crouch slide I learned to rely on in the first game. Why is that missing?

GRAW 1 is a whole lot harder than 2, but it's far more rewarding, as well. GRAW 2 is a good game in its own right, but be aware a lot has changed since the first one. The higher reliance on Hollywood-style buddy movie antics between you and your squad gives the game a less realistic, less immersive experience than that of GRAW 1, which grated on me quite a lot.

Ghost Recon is a hard but funny game. if you download it at GG you don't get the full version. Ghost recon got a pretty good graphic and you can slide and things on the game. I give this game a 4 of 5

I just bought this title last weekend. At first, I was skeptic in buying it since I was thinking it is just another senseless FPS game. But, after trying a few missions, it gets addicting. I admit, it is my first time to play this type of FPS where in you directly command your troops and are at least more obedient than those of other FPS games. Last FPS I played where L4D and BF2, which of course are totally different FPS sub-genre of their own. So I was wrong, GRAW2 isn't just another senseless FPS game, it is an FPS with its own sub-genre, and its great!

Just a tip, if you buy this, make sure you download the patch from the official website before starting your campaign or you may lose some save files. Also, the patch fixes the bug where in you cannot get pass some levels. It is always a good idea to be up-to-date anyway. That's the best thing in buying your game, you are assured for full support and you have access to patches and updates.

The game is a good blend of action and planning, and the added weapons and available loaded out is great. The game will provide hours of fun and play ability.

As for the AI it does need some work as the squad members don't do i great job. Also the manual does not show all the keyboard commands for the game. I have had no luck finding a complete list of commands.

In short the games is a typical Ghost Recon game.

This is a great tactical action game. Similar to older the ghost recon and rainbow six games, it is top entertainment for someone enjoying a semi-tactical gameplay.

You can choose your weapons and customize them with granade launchers, scopes, silencers and more, allowing for a somewhat more varied gameplay, especially on the night-levels.

Along with a typical clancy-story, this game contains hours of fun gameplay.
