GAME SUMMARY

Gothic II

Rating: 4.2 (95 votes cast)

The mine valley of Khorinis. The glorious days of the once productive mines in this small seaside region were long over. Surrounded by the impenetrable magical barrier, the slaves eked out their miserable existence in this apparently natural prison.

One brave man managed to burst the bonds of imprisonment. Willing to do whatever was necessary, he went out to banish Evil and destroy the magical barrier forever. No one in Khorinis had been prepared for this. Too long had they lived under the deceptive notion of security granted by
the apparently indestructible magical dome. The small militia garrison could not put up enough forces against the onrush. After numerous bloody clashes, many captives successfully escaped and found safety in the woods and rugged mountains of the surrounding countryside. The steadily escalating number of raids in the vicinity of the town wall and the bandits' ever-increasing boldness seemed to paralyze the whole town. Khorinis is facing an uncertain future. Due to the farmers' decreasing production, more and more of the food deliveries do not take place, and
the stocks diminish continuously. The militia's might ends at the town gate. Outside the town wall, nobody is safe from the bandits' armed raids. There is war in Khorinis. A civil war.

But there is something else that could not be foreseen.Evil is not dead, rearing its ugly head again.  But this time it is set on delivering the deathblow to humanity, and no one can stop it.

Gothic 2 is a great game, though the graphics and controls hinder my enjoyment. You will have to rebind the controls, and live through the old graphics. If you are into old school RPGs, then this is the game for you.

Definitely one of the classics among RPG's. If you haven't played it, you should. Just be prepared for quite a bit of difficulty. This game doesn't hold your hand in any sense. But once you get into it, it takes hold and doesn't let go. Exactly what a good RPG should do.

Time heals all wounds but it doesn't fix old games. That being said Gothic II takes what made Gothic I good and gets rid of what made Gothic I annoying. My number 1 compliant about Gothic was it's controls and it's lack of mouse binding. Gothic II allows you to bind to the mouse and gets rid of the weird action+walk up to take items. Though there still are control issues it's much better. The graphics are still bad but considering the age not too bad. As far as game play the story starts just weeks after the first game. Again this game is only for RPG lovers as there is very little hand holding. All and all, a good RPG for those who don't mind thinking and figuring things out. Love for Cheesey voice acting is a plus.

A great sequel to a amazing sandbox style RPG, this game also allows the freedom to explore, any choice you make will open a different path making this game REPLAYABLE! Combats needs a little time to get used to because there is some reflex element involved which alot of rpg player tends not to have(including me). But this game offers so much more than what meets the eyes, 10/10 in gameplay, 10/10 in story ,8/10 in graphics. A must get for any RPG gamer or for anyone who is interested in trying out sandbox RPGs

Gothic 2 is a great game for those who enjoy a great storyline and an overall difficult, but fun game. Many things like the combat system and intercations with the various factions in the game are very unique to role playing games. Overall, this game was definetly worth the money, and will keep you occupied for a long time, due to the fact the game has many different ways to beat it.

This wonderfull game is what an rpg is all about, without being pen-and-paper like, wich some people (me partially included) find somewhat borish. when you play it, you WANT to explore every upscure bit of the landscape, and you CAN explore every upscure bit of the landscape. I have have played through this again and again and even though graphics have improved so much, i find that the graphics could be allmost on a pacman-level (small overstatement, houmor me) and this game would still be 5/5 10/10! theres allways something new to it when i try it yet again after some months time. want to try out rpgs? are you an rpg fan? veteran? BUY THIS GAME NOW if you have not allready, wich i find hard to believe. :)

This game has a huge, free roaming world where your character goes from place to place fighting monsters and finishing various quests. The quests range from easy to challenging. Some require lots of thought and travel time.

There is a day and night time schedule. Charactors eat, sleep, cook and create items using various skills that can be upgraded each level. It stikes me as more real life like than most rpg games that I've played.

I would definately recommend this game to any hard core rpg players out there. It has already taken up a good part of my life.
