A unique strategy game that puts you in command of a modern naval fleet. Fleet Command gives you a war room style map to plan the moves of your ships and aircraft, as well as a 3D view to watch the action. Not as fast paced as many RTS titles, this game is all about careful planning. While this style of play may not be for everyone, for those that want a realistic fleet simulator, this is about as good as it gets.

A good middle ground

This game is so much fun - it is not as realistic as Harpoon is, but it has a certain amount of realism to it, while adding some nice exciting (for the time) graphics to it. There are certain interesting mods and scenarios out there which guarantee a high replay value. For me, it has just the right amount of detail to keep me interested without bothering me with too much info or resembling an Excel file.

It's pretty fun but nowhere near as hardcore as the old Harpoon games. There are a ton of ships/planes and weapons systems modelled and a bunch of scenarios. There's a few big mods for it around the internet which add a bunch more of everything and makes the game more fun.

Despite it's age, this is still a great naval simulator that is easy to use. It has units from over 20 countries with realistically depicted ships, planes and weapons. Missions can take place in HUGE areas, one mission uses almost the whole Northern Indian Ocean.

No drawbacks come to mind, obviously dated graphics but that should not bother most players, I did experience one bug, which involved a flashing screen during the main menu, but this turned out to be a compatibly problem with Windows 7, which is understandable for such an old game.

I am certain our armed forces train on better simulators, but this will fill the niche for people wanting control of a naval fleet and it's assets. In fact the only downside I can think of is I wish there was a game identical to Fleet Command but involves mainly ground forces.

To sum up this game, I come to fleet command when I want serious hardcore strategy and my mind is clear, the only game near this on strategic complexity is Supreme Commander on giant maps. I would give it a 3/5 fun wow factor, 5/5 serious strategy factor.

I simply love this game. Its realistic, its easy to comprehend, you can micromanage units, or speed up and try and bruteforce the more simpler problems.

Its never too easy, but never too difficult either. All problems have different solutions. Graphics are no issue either. It just enhances the mood that you are in charge in a naval command center.

However, I found it difficult to see the movies. Dont know if that is only me or something of the downloaded games.

An amazing game for someone looking to have a good battlefield simulation of late model war machines. It can be glitch ridden on some hardware, but for the most part it works quite well. The graphics are simple enough to work on older hardware. In all, it is a great game that gives you control over every aspect of higher level battlefields. Keep in mind that this isn't a simple game before you buy. Some of the scenarios will test you and may even seem rather impossible.

This is simply a great game for those who enjoy realistic military games. When I say realistic, try to imagine that the detail is as deep as having to manage the payload for your various carrierbourne aircraft according to the mission you may want them to perform. Detection sistems and weapons are as realistic as their real-world late 90s counterparts - no wonder, since all the database come from Jane's publishings. The interface of the game is simple and user-friendly, but if you in it for the graphics and such you're in for a disapointment. This one is for the sober gamers, meaning that there is a lot of emphasis on the strategic and tatical issues, but simple graphics. And thats just fine if you ask me.
