A World to Build… or Destroy

“A war is coming… a war between East and West - between Kingdoms and Empires, between man and Fallen. A future of blood and death, of chaos and destruction.” – the Oracle Ceresa

Design your sovereign with unique talents and weapons for the trials ahead. Learn powerful spells to enchant units, summon elementals, or destroy those who oppose you. Found cities and research technologies to expand your influence. Send your champions on quests to recover ancient artifacts, gain allies, or obtain the great wealth lost during the Cataclysm.

The land is not simply waiting to be claimed; it must be conquered.  Darkling camps, ogre lairs and caves waiting to be explored dot the landscape.  In remote corners of the world, tireless butchermen, fell demons and legendary locations are waiting to be found.  Explore Varda, a pre-Cataclysm city defended by golems that have turned on the citizens and made the city into a prison.  Defeat Sarog to claim the Temple of the Dragon and recruit Ashwake Dragons to your cause.  Claim the Flooded Graveyard or the Pit of Sarpah to harness the powerful magical energy of those locations.

Key features:

  • Recruit Champions - Equip them with rare magical items that you create or discover. Customize your champion’s special abilities and traits as they gain levels.
  • Fight in tactical battles - Battle enemy armies or the wild creatures of the world. Command your armies directly and choose between the special attacks and spells your units have learned.
  • Design your units - Customize their armor and weapons. Equip units with mounts to quickly close on enemy units. Train them with specialized traits like Discipline and Ignore Pain.
  • Liberate or Enslave - Transform Elemental into a noble kingdom, or an empire where citizens are fuel for your spells. Build studies and workshops to make your citizens more productive, or gallows and sacrificial altars to keep your citizens motivated.
  • Explore Wildland Areas - Be cautious when entering these areas; they offer their own rewards and treasures, but you will need high-level champions, advanced armies and powerful spells to survive.
  • Build your own world - Use the included modding tools to create new improvements, locations, quests or factions. Design new spells in the Particle Cauldron and entire worlds with the Cartographer’s Table.

Fallen Enchantress review

Fallen Enchantress is a really good game. It combines a lot of strategic element, which makes it a very interesting game. It introduces some new element, which you normally don't see in other games of the same genre, which makes it much more interesting.

I like Fallen Enchantress. It's the closest anyone has come to producing the game I've been dreaming about since I was an adolescent with visions of wizards carving fantastical empires out of a hostile world. But as much as I feel like I should be head-over-heels in love with it, my 40-plus hours with the game leave me satisfied rather than ecstatic. Maybe some enterprising modder will use the included tools to expand on the base game's good parts while mitigating its issues and add a little soul to the mix. I'll gladly dump another 40 hours into Fallen Enchantress on that blessed day.

Starting to like the game. I didnt get the 1st Elemental and experienced the so-called improvements so playing this with a clean slate. Yaaahh...it certainly satisfies my Age of Wonders itch - but for some reason the combat is still not as engaging as AoW's. Although maybe mid to late game battles would be amazing. Though I keep hearing about Dominions 3..hmmmm. But still get this game if you like fantasy turn-based strategy. Forget the campaign. Go immediately to sandbox mode and its east to learn. Excited to get the Legendary Heroes expansion, too.

While Stardock can claim to have improved Fallen Enchantress, this release is still only marginally better compared to the original Elemental. Crash to Desktops, and other bugs continue to plague the game.

If you must play a fantasy 4x game, Warlock is a more polish fantasy turn-based 4X game compared to Fallen Enchantress.

Pros: auto-aupdates, deep and thorough RPG system, Active & complex magic, many maps, editor, mods, Random map Generator

Cons: works on Steam (you must be online)

Brings back many aspoects from old-scool games like Master of Magic or Age of Wonders. With new updates nearly no BUGs.

It's easy cheatable, I expected more cheat-protection. Campaign is not so cool, but I never was campaign fan, so I don't really care.

Death/Dark magic is COOL, I always love to play as evil necromancer.

Magic/Mana is based on global pool (like Master of Magic) that makes all magic users think twice what spell use and when, but as soon you learn the strategy and city building basics, you can develop the most deadly spells. (like curse removing all defense of all enemies... DEADLY, I like it!!) the strongest dark spell is only on a scroll, but having that scroll makes you dangerous, extra FUN!

I'm really addicted to this game, when I first started I didn't think i would like it but days later I still haven't gotten enough. The combination of high customization, mod-ability, roleplaying, and 4x just really hits the sweet spot for me. I've never played this style of game before so I have no idea how it compares to others in this genre, the closest I've come is the demo of Warlock: Master of the Arcane, but for a beginner in this genre I really like what this game has to offer. Only thing to note is it has a few bugs, none of which have been game-breaking as of yet, and sometimes it freezes for a few minutes before continuing as normal. Also because of the random nature of the game you might have an easier or harder time depending on how the map plays out. So far everyone I've shown this to has really liked it and I have to say if your curious it's really worth a shot. Sadly there are no demos but there are a few good lets-plays and walkthroughs on youtube to get an idea off of.

Wasn't sure what to expect when I first started the game, but I love what I ended up with. To me it feels like a combination of a Civilization game and a strategy rpg. It combines the two so well that it just seems natural. The graphics aren't mind blowing, but I really enjoy the style they do have. The game does have a tutorial but I decided to skip that, and was able to figure things out as I go, and I find that to be a plus in any game.

Having said that don't think this is an easy game. To me it very much seems like an easy game to learn, but a hard one to master. If you have an interest in the game like I did, I would say pick it up as I am certainly glad I did.

I never played Elemental but I really like this game and find it very well done. Unlike most other strategy games, even if you are a total beginner to the genre it is very easy to pick up and they have included an excellent tutorial that is probably the best I've come across in a strategy game. It walks you through the basics, actually lets you play and learn them hands on and then even has videos to show you how it's done. I'm not a hardcore strategy player but I try a few every now and again and I wish they all had tutorials like this one.

Of course you can skip the tutorial if you want and the game can be as complex as you want it to be. I've found it to be very addicting in a similar way to the Civilization games.

If you're looking for a new strategy game to try out and like the fantasy theme I'd definitely recommend this game wholeheartedly without reservations.

Fallen Enchantress review

I bought this game expecting a great game based on the reviews here and from some other review sources. I was quickly let down. Once the game downloaded and installed i tried to get into the campaign. I just couldn't do it. Each turn was taking between 5 and 30 minutes (usually i just abandoned my game if it waited 30 minutes) to advance to the second. If it takes this long from the first few turns how long does it take later on?

The company forums listed auto save as one source of this delay, sadly something is broken within the game preventing me from disabling auto save(the auto save shows as disabled but saves anyway) while playing one of the default faction leaders or using a non custom faction. This ruled out playing the Campaign(well without doing more 8 hour days to advance 16 turns) and thus the story the game is built around as well as the default factions.

So on to the free for all type games. Those are amazing. You get your sovereign and can build your first city then go around collecting heroes and slaughtering monsters for experience while the city builds up and research is advanced. While the builds and research advance a bit slow by default that can be changed to faster or slower for each map, among a ton of other customization options on the maps. There is also the option to customize gear of each unit type, as well as the units various traits.

If not for a lack of support (i waited 5 days with no reply on the support forums, and found no support button on their website), broken campaign/default factions, and the inability to disable auto save for the above i would have rated this game a lot higher. If a deep turn based strategy game is what you want and story doesn't matter to you this is a good game.

I like this game, it´s a nice mix of Civilization V and Heroes of Might and Magic. You can build your own hero with individual strenghts and weaknesses and you can edit the units. With this features the game can be played several times without getting boring. The funny thing is, if you constructed an individual hero in a past game, this hero could be a opponent in the next game.

AMAZING game! To me it takes the best elements of civ and xcom but uses a silverfall graphic style. I do wish there were more modes, but hopefully we will get a bunch of expansions it being a new game and all. This game REALLY goes more into tech research and use than civ 5, the fact that you can give troops new weapons and pre-define which troops get what weapons is great. I know im still a novice at it, but i cant WAIT to really know what im doing. There are also a ton of options to tweak your gameplay experience which should appeal to a wide array of playstyles (i usually go biggest map and marathon on civ games, but i have found on this one i dont need to.. YET!).

So yea, if you are a fan of straight strategy games and looking for something new this game is TOTALLY worth checking out.

Good Game, needs some work.

Alright, so Fallen Enchantress is something along the lines of the failed Elemental and Warlock: Master of the Arcane.

The game works nicely (v1.0), maps are big enough although a bit meh at times. I haven't found any real bugs so far after about 10 hours of gameplay. If you played Warlock you'll fit right in, the cities take ages to build which makes the game a bit slow at times but... You get Heroes and an RPG portion to keep you busy. The AI is pretty hardcore if you put it on challenging, normal also gives you a run for your money.

Where this game fails is that it hasn't done anything different. Sure the cloth map is interesting but to be honest, the maps feel so packed that you don't really need the cloth map mode and can perfectly well play zoomed in. Another thing that's "annoying", at least for me is that it's sometimes hard to figure out what's going on because there's not enough contrast between your stuff and the environment.

To sum it up, good game, will give you quite a few hours of entertainment and the ability to make your own faction, troops, tiles and whatnot is interesting. AI is pretty good and the game is solid. But it's also lacking in some aspects, people who liked Civ games and other 4x games will fit right in, others may find it a bit more difficult to get used to this.

This is an absolutely excellent and recommended turn-based strategy game which mixes in some RPG features as well. If you like TBS, this is essential, since it really blows new life into the genre with some fresh ideas and visions, and it's probably the most interesting TBS game in a LONG time. The game is made with love and devotion, which shows; it is astonishingly beautiful and detailed. Great replayability and modding, for those who want that, with an AI that will actually surprise you, means this will keep you going for years. Recommended!

This game is a marvel, so many good things from other games such as civilization and warlords series. Including Heroes of Might and Magic like combat, turn based. The first one was very unpolished mess and very confusing. In Fallen Enchantress they have greatly improved every aspect of the first game and made it much easier to play and understand. Great, great game!
