Dead Space 2 review

Dead Space 2 is a great atmospheric third person shooter that will keep you glued to your screen despite being very scary. What sets Dead Space 2 apart from other horror games is that it's not just cheap jump scares, even though there are many, it's the atmosphere that keeps you on your toes with great sound design. However the combat could be improved to make the experience even more enjoyable.

if you have played dead space then you will find dead space 2 very similar. If you have not played dead space then you should as it is a great game and dead space 2 refers back to it often.

A very, very, scary sort of experience, though lacking in the punch it originally possessed in iterations that came before. Combat was okay, story was fine, but overall, just needed something more to it to really push it over the top and into a game that will be played for generations to come.

Be careful not to soil yourself when playing this game! What we have here is basically Dead Space 1, but as some of you might recall that game had terrible controls in the PC version (at least I had problems with it). The gameplay this time is much more smooth and everything that made the first game great have been transferred here. If it ain't broken, don't fix it, right? You still go out dismembering limbs from monsters in dark, claustrophobic hallways and try to find enough money and ammo to survive.

The biggest change I noticed was that the protagonist now has a voice! The voice acting is great and as usual the story, while not fantastic, does it job well and keeps the player driven to advance and see what will happen when Isaac is being slowly eaten mentally by the influence of the artifact. Remember to use stasis in tight spots!

Oh and as in the first game there are some very light puzzle elements here and there, but nothing an action fan should be worried about

this game is wow. a very good survival shooter with a dense and deep story and very immersive. it is heavily scripted so enemies come through holes in walls or climb but that contributes to the mood as you have to always expect anything. and there are many occasions where you dont play "normal" style but you fly through zero gravity, hang with head down shooting/defending or falling down evading debris. so gameplay is very diversified. there is also much content in game and the different sections have a unique look. but you will recognize many similarities to part one if you are familiar with it (what is not bad!).

the game is very linear so replay value is low when you dont want to try the higher difficulties or perfectionize your gameplay.

there have been some points where i "paniced" and feared but most of the game i felt relatively safe (in easiest difficulty level).

the only downside i encountered is the sound of voices when people talk (comms/logs especially). as english is a foreign language for me i understood only half of the stuff so i missed parts of the story because there is too much noise in the spoken words and around. i wish there would have been subtitles.

so when you like shooter or survival games this is definitely worth a look. especially when you liked part 1.

A dramatic improvement on the first game, Dead Space 2 picks up where the first game left off. The lunatic cult of Unitologists continue in their mission to unite the galaxy into one big meatball; leaving you to assume your old role as their arch enemy.

Technically, the sequel is a massive improvement on the first game. This time around we've got proper keyboard and mouse support, good looking visuals (in their own gory way) and reasonable loading times.

The scenery is a fair bit more varied than the dull old planet cracker, as are the weapons, enemies and suits. But underneath it all it's much the same game. So if you liked the first one then you should love this one. If you didn't because it was a bad port then you might like this one a lot more.

Great follow up game

If you loved dead space 1, you are sure to love dead space 2. Just as shocking, just as creepy, and with an awesome story, it kept me from putting down the controller! pick up at once!!!

Another graphically amazing game with a great story line- and very scary moments that will have the hairs on your neck standing on end. Dead space 1 imho is a little more scary and you feel more like your making progress in the game. However this game is worth the money it's also got a sick multiplayer session.

A very accomplished sequel to the 2008 revelation.

The game retains the elements of the first one, but it's a more story-centric game. This time Isaac Clarke speaks, and he's not anymore a "mindless" (or rather speechless) drone who has to follow orders.

Now you can really see, how Isaac feels about the situation and he's represented by some fine acting. The cast as a whole is pretty good and iconic.

The gameplay has improves, now there are a few shortcuts to make the life easier in a way, but to make it harder there are the inclusion of a few more monsters, such as the much dreaded necro-children. The scares are aplenty and successful.

The graphics have been tweaked, and looks more impressive even now (Even the first game still retains awesome graphics).

As a whole, get this game. I recommend it.

Dead Space Returns

Dead Space was a landmark for the survival-horror genre. The game ramped up the scares and action to ludicrous levels, delivering one of the most fun and intense horror games since Resident Evil 4.

Dead Space 2, like its dementia-afflicted protagonist, is absolutely insane. The game cranks up the action into overdrive while still delivering some hefty scares, albeit less frequently than the first. However, that does not stop Dead Space 2 from being a tense thrill ride. This sequel improves greatly upon the flaws of the first. The environments are varied, the game is longer, and it packs multiplayer to boot. If you even consider yourself a fan of sci-fi or horror, pick up this game. Now.

This year started promising when DS2 was released in January.

It does not take long until you experience the charged atmosphere that is waiting to explode in an orgy of violence.Grotesque monster waiting to rip you up, they can apparently be completely motionless on the ground, but suddenly come alive and scare the crap out of you.

The intensity of the game is very diverse. From an insane pace, more than one attacker, attacking the player to a "calm before the storm".

Story feels well prepared and excited to follow.

Several dramatic events that turns upside down on your previous experience occurs while you are fighting tough battles against the slimy monsters.

Some new enemies show up that were not included in part one.

Graphics and sound are really nice when you play at the highest resolution.Game control is a bit tricky at first but it all resolves itself when one becomes more familiar.

This is a future classic that at times feels more like an upgraded version of the "original", but which grows the longer you play, and overcomes the feeling. In other words ... dead space 2 is better than number one!

Great game, love the atmosphere and the feeling of the game. Cool weapons and creatures to kill. Good graphics and sound. Have a problem with MP doh (can't join games for an unknown reason), so haven't tested that yet.

But the SP are superb! So buy, download and play!

Deadspace 2 is much like Deadspace 1. You wake up from a bad dream but realize pretty soon its the same reality that you had just "escaped" in deadspace 1.

The game is beautifull and the music and sounds really are impressive as well as the terror and creatures in the game.

If you liked Deadspace 1 then i highly recommend deadspeace 2. There are now also multiplayer but i did not try that yet.

Graphics are a little better, and controls have also improved.

If your ingame controls are wird and your character move without a reason then try to unplug your USB joystick and it will fix that issue, actually its a bug from deadspace 1 that they did not fix yet.

Also the start of the game are a little difficult press and hold B so you can see where you have to go, once you pass the first 200m of running you are safe... at least for now..
