A strangely hollow experience.

While the ability to craft weaponry was nice, in practice it meant one could assemble powerful weapons right from the get-go. It was fun killing zombies, but with the amount of power one could dish out, they might just as well have been standing still. Throughout the entire game, I barely even got hit by a zombie, much less seriously wounded by them - despite them coming in hordes.

The only trouble I actually had in the entire game was the "secret" boss, and that only because - as usual these days - the game took all my carefully assembled inventory away from me for the final fight. And it was in the middle of wrestling with the boss that I realized - this is the only moment of tension I've had in the entire game.

Dead Rising 2 was not what I was expecting. There's nothing wrong with the game, but it wasn't my style. Combat is slow and clunky - there are 100's and 100's of zombies, but good luck really tearing them apart. The whole game operates under a timer, making it less enjoyable to a sandbox lover like myself. And it uses Windows Live... need I say more?

One of the best zombie games out there. Anything and everything is a weapon, you are in Vegas and you have to survive and take care of your daughter. What else can you ask? Oh yeah, crazy survivors, some of which want to kill you because they have gone mad!

Overall an amazing game for fans of survivor and arcade games.

Having been a big fan of Dead Rising on 360, I was very pleased to see its sequels arrive on PC.

First, the bad news: DR2 is a fairly basic port. This is given away quite flagrantly by the Options screen, which seems to have one addition over the 360 version, hamfistedly called "PC Settings".

Now onto the good news: DR2 is a fine sequel, with improved gameplay mechanics, a more engaging story (although not quite as clean as the original), and a whole lotta fun ZOMBIE KILLING!

There's so much to see and to do, and it's so fun to do it. The timed challenges and idiotic NPCs keep you on your toes all the way through.

I must admit, I only played using a 360 pad, so I can't comment on keyb/mouse suitability. However, if you have a pad lying around, I can easily recommend that you pick up this one the next time it's on sale!

If you Enjoyed the first dead rising on xbox than you will enjoy this it fixing many of the problems in the first games, adds many things, pc port is pretty good didn't try with mouse and keyboard but supports xbox 360 pad, only thing is that its uses games for windows live drm and does not activate in any client only way to download it is through GG which is not bad but would've liked to see it in a client. character still moves in a diagonal way and is not smooth at all

Dead Rising 2 is a HUGE improvement over the original in all aspects. There are some interesting ideas and a bit of tongue in cheek comedy to carry you along for the ride.

The game has very good 3d compatibility and is one of the nicer examples to show off 3D vision to your friends and family.

Unfortunately this title falls short on longevity, there will not be much reason to play beyond the first go around, and while quite enticing for the first while I suspect many people will not even finish 1 go round.

The lead and protect missions to rescue survivors are frustrating at best. The weapons while bringing some fun and interesting ways to kill zombies gets old once you've used a new weapon a few times. And there is the ever looming arbitrary time limit imposed.

Such an awesome game to play. The creative ways you get to kill the zombies... Genius. Recommended for everyone who loves smashing zombies to bits ;)

I really have a mix feeling about this game. On one hand the silliness and zombie killing are really fun. On the other hand, the game completely lost the seriousness of a zombie game. It is a game that one can really enjoy and have fun, but it is very hard to get into the story emotionally.

Dead Rising 2 is the much anticipated sequel to the X-Box 360 blockbuster. It's a very enjoyable game, with much of the fault for Dead Rising resolved (this time the survivors actually fight back and you can move while shooting). The game introduced a mechanic to seize more PP (Player Points). You need to create weapons, which will follow a show of blood and guts.

A very enjoyable game, do try it out!

Let's be honest, the first Dead Rising was horrible. Trying some different earns you some credibility, but the game itself was not that great. DR2 takes the good concept of Arcade-style Zombie killing, spruces it up by giving you more to do, and then sprinkles justtttt a tad of story on to it. It's not gonna win any awards, but at least there is a small bit of story to keep you going. Not only that, but the boss fights are fun and there are tons of weapon combinations to jump up that high score. If you get one zombie game, this one should be it.

This is quite a big step up over the original. It still has the arbitrary time limit which is bad but the game play is fun. This game is quite silly and never above making fun of itself, but it also has moments where the tone changes and it becomes serious. This makes the story seem kind of uneven. You are probably not here for stories though. The gameplay is worth the asking price.

It's Dead Rising 1, only now also for the PC. More of everything, only this time with a different protagonist. Kill an insane amount of zombies, in a huge number of ways with everything you can find or built in the game. Perform your main missions and side missions in a long enough, very very fun third person action shooter game. If you like killing zombies, you will love this one.

Really entertaining game, if you're fan of zombies and/or free roaming sandbox-ish games, then you will love this game. It's not perfect and it can get repetitive pretty fast even with multiple endings and the multi-player mode is dead, almost void of players but these flaws doesn't stop this game from being really fun and I don't regret the purchase.

Technically speaking it's very well optimized, and there isn't any framerate issues even when you're facing an ocean of zombies...

Excellent zombie game and looks great in 3D! Love the mix of quests and zombie killing. Be aware you always need to watch the time and it is tough to do all the quests since time will run out. The boss fights are pretty fun as well requiring different tactics. Weapons will degrade over time as well so keep a lookout for items to collects to make the weapons.

Dead Rising 2 revolves around Chuck Greene, a competitor in a live broadcasted zombie-killing game Terror Is Reality (TIR), who is wrongly blamed for the zombie outbreak in Fortune City, the city he was competing in a TIR event. Together with other survivors of the outbreak Chuck tries to clear his name and find the people who framed him, while also keeping his daughter Katey, who was bitten by a zombie, supplied with Zombrax, a kind of medicine that keeps her from turning.

The story in Dead Rising 2 is fairly simple and is portrayed clearly, with the help of frequent cutscenes. In between the story missions there's enough to do: Gambling, rescuing other survivors, gambling, collecting certain kinds of items and, of course, hunting for Zombrax. The mini-bosses, who have to be beaten sometimes in order to rescue survivors, all have their own little backstories and are designed well.

The game also features a co-op and multiplayer mode. The co-op campaign is really fun to go through with a friend and is certainly a lot easier than doing the campaign by yourself. The online part only has a TIR mode, in which you compete against others in different zombie-killing events. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of people playing this game online anymore.

Dead Rising 2 unfortunately suffers from some frequent and long loading in between parts of the world and you may find the controls a bit sluggish at times, but that's pretty much all I can criticise the game for. I certainly don't regret buying the game, but I do think it's a shame Capcom didn't release the prologue and epilogue of DR2 for the PC.

An excellent addition to the Dead Rising franchise, it's essentially the same core game as the original with a lot of the major bugs and annoyances ironed out. For instance, survivors no longer are completely terrible liabilities and the zombie AI seems to focus on you more, making escort missions much less stress inducing that the first game.

Everything else is just better than the first game, the combat flows better, the graphics are better, the story is better, the save game locations are better. The core game has remained, for the most part, unchanged save for the abandonment of the photo-journalism 'ability' of the first game in favor of the 'fashion crazy weapons out of everything' system of Dead Rising 2.

The only real complaint that I have are that loading screens are a bit long, but still better on PC than the console alternatives and the controls take a little getting used to.

Great game, and well worth the discounted purchase price I paid. Similar in many ways to the first game, but significantly less difficult. While this has a double-edged sword, as I appreciated the nerve-wracking gameplay of the first, this also serves to reduce the frustration. I never had a survivor die on me though (unless I accidentally killed them myself) so this did take a little away from the game. It's also far easier to gather most of the survivors and save them your second run than it appeared to be in the first one. The boss battles can be quite difficult until you deduce a few tricks to put up your sleeves too, but playing these in co-op mode can make them easier.

Regarding the technical merits of the port, it's a very well optimized port that runs quite well. Some aspects of the port do come off as lazy though, as I was unable to get my gamepad working (before installing x360ce) since it appears they only support wired 360 controllers.

The competetive multiplayer component is also rather unimpressive, and it can often take an hour or so for you to find three others to get matched up with. It's likely something you'll try once and never go back to (assuming you can find opponents).

Great buy all around, lacks some of the charm of the first, but makes up for it in great amounts of gory visceral gameplay. Give this a go.

Dead Rising 2 is one of those games make you feel like you can do anything in the game. That is of course anything in Fortune City. Majority of the objects you see around you can be used as a weapon against the zombie horde. Zombie Horde? Yes, that's right! Over 1000 zombies generate right in front of your screen.

You've never seen enough zombies till you play Dead Rising 2. It's a playground of slaughter ready for you to cause more chaos. Humiliate zombies, utterly slaughter them, take them for a ride on a wheelchair.

Combine weapons to make more awesome weapons and see it's effect.

The game has some sort of RPG elements because you have a level system and each level rewards you with either health, increased movement speed, new combat skills and combo cards. Also, you can run into stores and change your clothes into 'ANY' clothes.

The best thing about this game is that you can enjoy it with a friend. I'd highly recommend playing co-op since boss battles are dead hard unless you mastered Dead Rising 2 and can solo them. Yes, the game is a single-player but boss battles scream out for you to complete them with a friend.

Grab a spiked bat and join the fun!

Dead Rising 2 is much like, not surprisingly, the first one. You end up with a hoard of zombies and psychopaths whom you have to defeat in many amusing and often comical ways. There is no camera this time, but the escorting and hats remain.

Single player is what you would expect, you vs countless zombies in a story set with time constraints. You wont be able to do nearly everything in the first playthrough, and probably not the second, but the clock can give one quite a rush especially when you have to go get zombrex, the amazing cure that only lasts 24 hours.

Online is a fun American Gladiators themed 4 part event, in which ranked also gives prize money which can be used in single player. Though ranked the events are fun and online isn't as frustrating as one would think. From catching a zombie on a pole, to chucking zombies onto a scale with antlers, to the finale slicycles. It is all quite enjoyable, though it can be challenging to get a game started and not drop connection.

There's also co-op, which I have not tried yet though it's good to know the option is there.
