My biggest gripe with this game is the stability.  I have not been able to complete a game without it crashing to my desktop.  I have tried this on two different machines and even tried running it as an administrator with no success.

Do you like digging, are into short hairy men, and have a hankering for anything gold, if you answered yes to any of these this game is for you! Delve deeper is a strategy game in which you control a team of dwarfs. Each dwarf is one of three classes, fighter, miner or scout. The goal of the game is to beat the AI, also a team of little men, at getting the most gold to the king. Simple no? As you dig deeper you encounter monsters and of course gold and gems. The map is a blank wall were you set up octagonal tiles each with different paths so picking the right one is needed to get your guy to the right place. Multiplayer is limited to local but things like that doesn't bother me as I mostly solo. There is also a level maker so even after you complete the massive game you can make more, very nice, and there is a relic collecting minigame of sort where you can earn personal bragging points for getting them all, 100 in the main game, 125 with the DLC addon. All and all, a fun time waster more than a full out and out game. I put it in the Plants vs Zombie, Angry Birds genre of games.

This game is everything it claims to be and little more. It is a game with board game-esque elements. The quirkiness and fun little things show me they enjoyed making this game. However, there are some annoyances. I've been unable to rename my dwarfs, there is no campaign and you play the game for the sake of the game (no progression). I think some nameable dwarfs with some records (creature kills, times played, etc) would have been a simple, yet wonderful, addition. Its a wonderful beer and pretzels, play when you are tired of the old games, game worth its price.

The idea behind Delve Deeper is simple enough. Dig deep and get treasure. The deeper you go the greater the rewards, but the greater the danger. Each of the teams can be either human or computer based, with the monsters being controlled by the computer. Everyone takes it in turns to get as much treasure as they can back to their base and then wait until the other players have had their go.

The waiting is frustrating, if only because you watch what each of the other even though each of the moves are so quick that you can't actually see what they are doing, making it just a useless blur on the screen. That is probably the only negative thing about this game. The idea is simple. the controls are me-proof and the characters are fun. It is hard enough to be entertaining without getting dull. Each of the games are different, meaning that you need to adapt your strategy accordingly if you want to win. You can also attack and be attacked by the other players adding a nice little bonus to the game. You also get the option to set the number of turns the game lasts, making it easier or harder to get the treasure back to your base.

I really enjoyed this game. More fun than covering yourself in honey and standing next to a bee-hive. (what... is it only me who enjoys doing that?)

Funny game with dwarves. Unique mix of strategy and action with elements of classical WORMS. Very good to play with friends or against SI. Less cost for many hours of fun! Buy it, it's worth your money!

Simple game. Graphics are ok. Could be much better. I would like to see this game remade with a little more effort. I would skip on this one if you are looking to spend a few more bucks.

Fun strategy game that doesn't take itself too seriously. It has a few problems, such as no LAN capability, but it's fun atmosphere and solid gameplay make up for it. At $5 it's definitely worth checking out. (Though I do hope that the sequel has more features.)

Delve Deeper is a good concept that may offer a few hours of distraction, it fails to keep the player's attention for long.

Fun, colorful graphics and an every-game-is-different system for placing tunnels makes for some limited replayability, but the real shortcomings are the lack of a campaign mode and any sort of stats tracking.

If the creators were to add a variety of monsters, weapons, special items and character progression, this game would rate pretty high and take up a lot of my game time.

Worth the $5 or so just to see the gameplay.

Delve Deeper is a reasonably and very fun game. Unfortunately this game has no LAN ,Internet Multiplay, it has only hotseat Multiplay. Somedays online multiplay version have been developed , i should soon buy it with my friends.

Delve deeper is a simple turn-based strategy game. The goal is to mine and discover treasures under a mountain faster than opposing teams. Each turn you build a new passageway to get to new mining areas and move your dwarfs to collect valuables or transfer them to mine entrance.

Where things get more interesting is that there are hostile treasure-carrying creatures and dwarves of other teams lurking around. If you're not careful they can knock you out for a turn and steal your currently held valuables. Or you can use the tactics yourself if the opportunity presents itself. Also you could use the passageway building to guide some monsters to opposing teams tunnels to slow them down.

The main value is board-game like simplicity and the fun-factor - mainly for humourous treasure item descriptions and friendly competition when playing hotseat with friends. Reminds me of Worms;) There's also a good demo to give you a decent idea of what to expect. Try it out!

Don't expect to spend hundreds of hours on it or sleepless nights but its worth the few € for occasional friendly hotseat.

Delve Deeper is a game about dwarves, depths, and demons. Players race each other to the deep dark mines to hunt for gold and treasure, battling magnificent beasts along the way. Now, break the system down into turns and the exploration into hexes placed by the players. As a board game, I would be completely sold.

When video games implement the ideas of boards, models, and chits, they can take those ideas and bring them to places that can't quite be captured by the medium: extremely large scales, massive real-time events, and dynamism beyond hexes. When not taken advantage of, a lot of untapped potential flies by.

Culdcept took its Monopoly + collectible card game mix to a new level with a robust elemental system and a collectible aspect that is often costly or risky in real life.

More recently, Dokapon Kingdom approached its board game base with an epic RPG structure spanning across a giant world. While this has been achieved by board games such as Runebound, the amount of bookkeeping may be daunting for casual players.

Delve Deeper is thematically strong, and has compelling exploration elements, but employs board game conventions in a blunt and uninspired way.

That said, the board game mechanics are interesting and being able to hotseat a board game like this can be fun, especially for a mere $5; a board game of this caliber would likely cost more than $50. Only those wishing for direct adaptation of a board game on the PC should readily part with their $5, otherwise, learn more about the game and its mechanics before you dive in.

Fun game, although its animations are simple and most of it looks like a 1:1 computer realization of a board game (which it probably is). Goal is to get gold for your king, either by mining minerals or retrieving relics from the depths while fighting monsters as well as other (AI, if needed) players. There is a demo available, but I guess I should add that the full game offers an easy to understand, but somewhat clumsy to use level editor. Sadly, multiplayer is limited to same machine.

Delve Deeper is a reasonably enjoyable distraction. Despite the interesting concept, it's not a game I feel anyone would become particularly addicted to, especially since there's no LAN or online mltiplayer, which would improve it's appeal tremendously.

Graphics-wise: Well done spriteworks, although it could use a little more variety. The sound is repetitive but functional, and the actual gameplay is fun but clunky (the UI could use some work, no saves and you can't skip AI turns?).

In short: it's worth five bucks, so try it out.

Come to think of it I think it would make a pretty decent board game...
