Dark Sector review
A third person action shooter. With some light RPG elements. Good all around presentation and very good and solid gameplay. Very violent too, if that is your thing. The game didn't get the attention it deserved when originally released, which is a shame since it is among the best third person shooter games available.
Get it.
Dark Sector review
The game makes you use the blade alot yet its a duck and cover shooting game so you die a lot,
you have to upgrade the blade your you will have trouble in the higher levels. The game crashes
if the screen size is bigger then 1024 x 786, the game does not have levels only three open
areas with waves of enemies which can be confusing where you are suppose to go.

Lacking
At its core, Dark Sector is a solid third-person shooter, but with exception of the iconic hand blades, there's not much setting it apart from other similar games, stylistically or gameplay-wise. Gunplay and cover system are both solid, but the game is ruined for me by some technical obstacles: it feels very much like a quick console port despite its solid performance - there's a severe lack of graphical and gameplay options available to the player; the game sections are on a linear path of checkpoints in between, often not thoughtfully placed; multiplayer seems to be LAN-only; there's no options regarding AA or turning off the very intense bloom that the game makes use of... and as some other reviewers have already pointed out, widescreen users are encountering issues as well. Take it or leave it, as there's not much that can be done with the game apart from pushing forward and playing as it is, or abandoning it for something else if you've made the purchase. With enough customization, my gripes with the game could've been taken care of, but sadly, this is not the case.
With other good - and cheap - games of the same genre out there, Dark Sector managed to feel like bad value to me despite its price. You might or might not enjoy the game more than I did, so buy at your own risk.
Dark Sector review
I enjoy a lot this game. It is a simple Third Person Shooter, where you impersonate a secret agent sent to investigate an east Europe city. After the "tutorial" you learn different powers that allow you to solve the simple enigmas. The shooting system is similar to Gear of Wars like games, find a repair, shoot and proceed.
Furthermore the story is nice, not complex and original, but is appreciated, as well as bosses fighting.
If you find this game on sale buy it and you'll enjoy it.
Dark Sector review
Generally, a good game.
I found the constant stream of enjoyable new upgrades and gameplay changes refreshing, and these allowed me to continue to enjoy the game.
I found a few parts of the game arbritrary, including a shop where you could waste points, even though you got everything from the shop for free all around every single map.
Apart from this, and a couple of small glitches, the game has excellent graphics, fun gameplay and a large number of surprises. Worth checking out if you can afford it.
Dark Sector review
Dark Sector is a glitzy but straightforward cover shooter; other than the glaive, Hayden's bladed boomerang, not much stands out about it. Gameplay is very simple - nail the shooting-gallery AI from behind cover, then move on to the next room. There's a "black market" where you can buy and upgrade different weapons, but it's tertiary at best - just purchase a shotgun and keep your starting pistol, and you'll be set for the entire game. There isn't much variety in enemies, either; by the end of the game, you'll be a bit tired of seeing the same opponents over and over.
That said, Dark Sector is not a bad game. I had a good time with it; it only aspires to being a fun turn-your-brain-off actioner, and it does succeed at that. If you're looking for a glossy diversion to keep you occupied for a few evenings, you could do a lot worse.
On a technical note, this is mostly a very competent PC port; performance is very nice, load times are super-fast, the application is rock-solid, and the game controls great with mouse and keyboard. However, the game doesn't display widescreen resolutions properly. At 1920x1080, my native resolution, the screen was stretched vertically and cut off at the top and bottom. If your monitor supports letterboxing different aspect ratios, however, you should be able to play at a lower resolution (I played at 1680x1050) without any trouble.
Dark Sector review
This is a reasonable action game, middle-of-the-line caliber title. The visuals look fine, and the throwing blade makes for an interesting mechanic.
The in-game subtitle text looks like a carry-over from the console version (really big text without much spoken) as if it were sized for TV's.
I didn't run across any bugs that I noticed in playing the game and had no crashes.
My score is 3.5/5.
Dark Sector review
I'm still playing the game (got past the half of its story) and I've liked it so far. The game is really nice, has a lot of action and is kind of different from other games, where you always depend on guns and more guns. Using the glaive as both a boomerang to get things and to kill enemies is a great feature!
Dark Sector review
Quite a fun little action game. It's got what you expect these days: subtle interface, basic cover system, and tons of enemies. The main twist is the glaive, which can be used to hit enemies around corners, pick up items, that sort of thing.
If you need a cheap, engaging action game for the weekend, Dark Sector is a good choice.
