Rating: 3.8 (38 votes cast)

Commandos 3: Destination Berlin is a game of real-time tactics that places you in command of an elite unit of Special Forces behind enemy lines. From the shores of France to the heart of the Third Reich, strike fast from land or sea with your small squad of guerrilla fighters, infiltrating hostile territories and conducting raids to disrupt the German war machine.

Commandos 3 Destination Berlin is the third installment in Pyro Studio’s legendary tactical strategy series, which has sold more than three million copies worldwide.

Historical WWII campaigns: engage the enemy across Europe, from the Eastern front of Stalingrad, to the Gestapo Headquarters in Berlin, to the D-Day assault on Omaha Beach, each offering unique tactical situations.

Multiple paths to victory: prepare your commandos for a variety of strategies as enemy bombing raids lay waste to environments, requiring you to change your tactics and approach.

Guerrilla warfare: utilize ambush tactics, stealth, sabotage, and demolitions to disrupt enemy advances.

Multiplayer combat: test your skills head-to-head with up to 8 other players via LAN and Internet.

Improved accessibility: Commandos 3: Destination Berlin features more detailed, smaller maps providing more action-orientated missions that form part of an overall campaign. A strong narrative drives the story via cinematic briefing screens.

Commandos 3 is great WWII real time tactical strategy with mix of stealth, the game got few playable characters (each got his special abilities like sniping or planting bombs),interesting missions and challenging yet fun gameplay.

Not many many games from this genre had beat Commandos 3, so this is a must-play for fans of tactical games.

The story of this game can be: How a sympathic idea turned a classic franchise into a really boring experience. The map was supposed to be more dynamic, and the enemies smarter. To me it killed the whole idea of "commando": try to wait for the perfect spot, and progress inches by inches, with a great machiavelic masterplan in your mind to kill a single guard. I do not recommend.

Complicated, not intuitve and not nearly as easily or comfortably accesible as Commandos 1 or 2.

The controls are cumbersome, half the time you do not know were your commandos are in relation to the enemy and instead of sneaking and taking one enemy out after the other you are expected to take them head on.

If you liked the predecessor of this game it is far from certain you'll like this as well.

"Commandos 3" is an excellent addition to the "Commandos" family. Keeping wih the style of the preceding games the developers have attempted to correct flaws whilst keeping what kept us hooked with the original games. Some problems still persist, such as the exterior camera angles only being rotated at 90 degrees which doesn't always make the are you are trying to look at clearly visible. The characters in the game have returned and allow us to put our teamworking skills to the test, even with many of the commandos now sharing skills which used to be unique there are still enough subtle differences to require the multi-tasking style of play which makes "Commandos" such a good series. This game is a vital addition to any "Commandos" fan.

Commandos 3 lives up to, and builds upon, the other games in the Commandos series. It combines stealth, RTS, puzzle solving and point-and-click gameplay into a great WWII storyline. Each commando has unique abilities needed to advance in the game. A must have for anyone who appreciates retro games.
