Chronicles of a Dark Lord: Episode I Tides of Fate Enhanced Edition review

By ManjixIchigo posted 20th February

This is yet another indy RPG I have bought from this site for less than $10. I am again, happy with the value I have gotten out of this one. It has an FF-inspired ATB battle system, except either intentionally or unintentionally in the design, it pauses while you make your choice of which item or special. That almost defeats the purpose of the system. Alas, there could be a good reason for that as the ATB still serves as a great turn initiative system and makes the flow a little faster than a straight-up turn-based, which is in every other Indy RPG. The story has you jumping from kingdom to kingdom like familiar console-style RPGs and has a story arc at the beginning where you are a God and not even a noob could lose. These elements are used often, but this time, they are done quite logically and well. NB: I like how the first characters that join you are the protagonist's wife and kids.
