I am not a big racing fan but this is a really nicely made game. Although the graphics are obviously out of date it has an almost cartoony look which really works well for this game. Some really great looking cars and nice tracks make this a good game for any racing or classic car fans.

Definately a new approach to racing, Classic Car Racing, as the name suggests, is about racing classical cars (no surprise there). Get in your car, and race! Or so you would think...

The game does have some issues with control, in that the cars will usually veer off course for no reason; I suspect they have tried to increase the reality of the game by adding in such elements experienced by these older models of cars... I might be wrong and it may be just a programming error though :S

The graphics are nice; a little cartoony but nonetheless enjoyable. Details in the surrounding landscape may not be as appealing though. You can upgrade your car (usual parts; wheels, engine, brakes) though I am not sure car tweaking was really a thing back in the 50's...

Some of the bad aspects of the game is that you can only own one car at a time (guess they tried to take in the economy factor of the era into account :P), sounds are OK (nothing fancy) and the game is a little too short (wish there were some mods for this that could add more content). Game deserves a 3.5 but not a 4.

Classic Car Racing review

I've always fancied a bit of classic car racing as a change from all the modern stuff. So when I saw this at a reasonable price I thought i'd give it a go.

The graphics by todays standard are no more than functional. The cars are reasonably modelled and adequatley detailed, but the landscapes show there age. If you know your classics, you will be able to idenify every vehicle, but don't expect real world names on them.

Driving the cars is rather strange, this is aside from having to use the keyboard because there is no joystick support. As you drive along in your strangley named car, it suddenly bolts to the left or the right without any reason. this happens frequently throughout the race making it difficult to control the car without going into a spin or the nearest tree. If this is an attempt to inject some nostalgic reality, it completely fails as it comes over more as poor development.

The game offers a career mode only, where you by your car to race. They are upgradable with the usual various parts, exhaust, tyres, brakes, engines etc. You'll need to upgrade to be competitive, but apart from a bit more speed they don't make much of a difference.

You can only own one car at a time, so don't expect to build up a collection. You wont need more than two to complete the game because it is actually quite short once you get used to the handeling of the cars.

Game sound is just adequate but the gameplay is accompanied by music. Which I quite liked for some strange reason.

So to sum up its a racing game with a handful of vintage cars, quirky handeling, a short career mode only and basic sound. Its arcade only, not a sim so you wont feel the nostalgia of a bygone era. Only the frustration of crashes beyond your control.

Pretty cool game with cars to buy and upgrades on body, engine, brakes, etc. Really nice graphics and scenery. Lots of different tracks to race on. The other racers are pretty competitive they will smash into you and wreck your car just to pass you.

One thing that was not good was loading the next level or looking at your cars, sometimes it took a little time to load. But not bad.

This is a medium-feature racing game with semi-enjoyment. The physics are satisfactory in handling. What I really didn't like was that if you have to watch out for spectators. I doubt races back in the 50s had so many people lining so close to the road that you have to take your mind off your driving, and watch out to keep from hitting them. The graphics could have been better, but serve their purpose. Overall, this game it ranks medium in the racing category.

I gave it two stars (versus 3), because I felt that being able to hit the spectators (since they were not protected as in most racing games) was uncalled for.

This is a nice racing game. It features many options, like having many classics cars to race with, paiting your car and loads of customisation/handling upgrades. The only thing it lacks is a multiplayer option. If you don't mind it being single player only you will have a lot of fun with this one. Graphics are good cartoonish style and game controlls are easy. i'd give it a 7.5
