The actual adventure is in my opinion that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a great game. Both the singel player story and of course the multiplayer part. But is that it?

In the singelplayer you get the "25 minutes here, 15 minutes there, 12 minutes here". Like in Modern Warfare 2. It feels a little bit fast and almost weird how you first start your mission in the South Pacific, it revolves around a submarine "a secret weapon that the Japanese put their hands on" and a moment later you are placed in cold Russia. On the other hand, the landshape and nature is beautiful and some of you might just appreciate the variations.

So who are you? Well your name is Preston Marlowe and you will team up in a small squad of soldiers. Everyone got their personality witch you pick up fast. Some corny jokes here and there makes the game real and fun. The enemies, the al is alright but not great. Almost in every gunfire situation you´ll end up letting them detect you. They shoot and you cover, then you kill them with ease (If not your squad kills them first). I played the game on "hard" and sure, there is some parts where I really wanted to turn off the game. But over all, thats maybe how it should be. And in the end you might scream for more because the game is not that long.

It could have been so much more if they made a co-op mode. Where you and your other three friends had to do all the dirty work. But no, it hurts to say but the game dosen´t have this.

The sound is incredibly good. I actually dare to say that this is the best sound I have heard in any action game in my entire life. The weapons sounds heavier and harder and the acoustics are brilliant. There is a perfect amount of reverb on every little sound effect. And to listen to how the crash from the sniper rifle bouncing between different buildings - is nothing short of wonderful. The larger guns has a loud blasts that echoed over the battlefield, truly amazing.

How about the multiplayer? The Battlefield series has always been about the addictive and extensive multiplayer. And yes, multiplayer part of this game is brilliant, straight through. Dice has improved virtually in every detail and has added some really successful innovations, like the ability to tailor the weapon choise and better (and less) balanced classes. The system that will upgrade your character is also terribly addictive. The improved ability to destroy things add a lot to the multiplayer,it sure looks nice and smooth. To bomb who damaged the house that the enemy hides in is an effective way of wearing down anyone, it´s an amazing freedom that more games should include. Working together for maximum efficiency, use the vehicles and use the objects as the well-designed multiplayer environments contains -is a rare addictive feeling.

So, it the game worth buying? I would say, with thanks to the great online multiplayer the game will last for a very long time. I love the feeling of reality, it really does feels like you are there, in the warzone. And maybe the game would earn 5 of 5 stars if it had a co-op story mode. I will hold my breath until next time. /Ecuze

A first person shooter which is the illegitimate child of the Battlefield series by DICE and the Call of Duty series by IW.

It takes place in the very near future, or alternate present if you prefer. There are two components to the game. The online and the offline.
Online you choose server and type of game from the few usual suspects, and go and cause havoc. You can choose your specialty, engineer (with stealth weapons and anti tank weapons), scout (aka sniper), assault, medic (with light machineguns for fire support. The more you play with the type of character, the more you upgrade your character (persistent) which unlocks various goodies and weapons. Depending on the character you choose (you can change character every time you "die" in the game), the gameplay can be very different for you. It just doesn't get old.
My favourite online part is the "conquest", which is more or less the same as in all the previous Battlefield games.
The online game is definitely worth the price of admission itself.

Thankfully though, it isn't just that. The game also has a single player campaign. Similar to the previous Bad Company game, and with touches of Call of Duty Modern Warfare, the single player campaign is a beautiful integral part of the game. While the story is more or less what you would expect (find the X before the world goes boom), and it is done in a very good way, that you start to believe you are there and do whatever you have to do, there is also lots of humour, mainly from what your 3 AI controlled buddies say to one and other during the battle and the scripted sequences between missions. Not to the point where it gets stupid, no, this is high class humour. The campaign is not as short as CoDMW, but don't expect 15 hours campaign either. It all depends on how you play the game. If you play on normal and on hard, then I would say at least 20 hours.

The game contains apart from the graphic killings, lots of swearing, so have that in mind if you have a problem with it.

Graphics and sound wise the game is top notch. It might not look better than say Crysis on steroids, but it looks great and plays very smooth. The sound is done in a great way and if you have a good sound system or good pair of headphones, you are in for a great treat.

The game is not without faults. My guess is that at least for ATI cards, there is going to be a new driver sooner or later. There is some occasional flashing (like a car) of some textures, like water, but it happens rarely and it might be my graphics card.
There are occasional crashes, say 1 every 5 hours of play, but again there is no way to be absolutely certain it is the fault of the game or not.

All in all, even as it is now, the game is well worth its price and you can expect to spend many fun hours with it.

I give it a 5/5
