GAME SUMMARY

Alan Wake

Rating: 4.5 (12 votes cast)

When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls.

With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.

Alan Wake - puts you in the middle of something beautifully terrifying

By Runzel posted 26th April

This game made my friends gather around a computer and beg me to continue to play for hours (!), because they wanted to know how the storyline develops. Yes, it is that fascinating. And all wrapped up in very nice graphics too. And the pace of the game is also something worth mentioning. Like in a good horror movie you have sequences with thrill and action and others when you believe all is fine....for now....and then - BAM - things get pretty fast pretty ugly. The characters are believable and entertaining. The sound is good too. It simply fits together. You can play through the game pretty fast, i'd say in about 6 hours, if you give it a try on easy difficulty and rush through the levels. Or you can try to collect all the goodies, see all implemented tv shows, listen to all radio broadcasts....collect this and that. Well it pleases the achiever type of player as well as the one with little time on his hand who is just looking for the fast enterainment inbetween work and family.

The only two things that made me think could have been improved is:

1. The action sequences take place too often in places that look alike. And the strategy you got to survive doesnt change much over the game. So sometimes it feels slightly repetetive.

2. No alternate endings. So the replayability is not as high as it could be. I bet everybody would give this game another whirl on a higher difficulty if he could give the story another spin. But sadly replaying the game may just help you to understand the fixed storyline a bit better (Which is at times confusing - in a good way).

So to conclude. I had lots of fun with this game. Alan Wake is worth the full price and on sale it is simply a steal! Dont miss it.

Alan Wake review

I really like the start of the game, it puts you right were you should be. The scenery is nicley done and the grafics is pretty good. If you like this kind of mystery type game Alan Wake will do the job. I have played Max Payne and can say that Remedy has done a great job from the first Max.

I compare this game to Heavy rain alot which i liked allot, and i beleve that Alan Wake can stand up to the test.

The downside might be the controls, it fells like it is made for the Xbox and thats a real shame. Be sure to have a QR reader with you when you play.
