It is 2032 - 20 years after the end of World War III. To survive the nuclear holocaust, humankind fled from the contaminated surface to find safety in vast bunkers, cities created deep underground. Decaying shelters and hideaways set the stage in mankind's struggle for survival where they battle horrible mutants, bloodthirsty mercenaries and other threats.

In Afterfall: InSanity you won't only face the aftermath of the nuclear fallout, but also the dark shadows of the past in the role of the mysterious psychologist Albert. As Albert, the player will be part of a team of medical scientists in charge of monitoring the fugitives' mental stability. If Albert does not confront his greatest weaknesses and deepest fears, he will not survive the claustrophobic depths of the underground from which there is no escape and where the darkness hides more secrets than simply the growing madness of its inhabitants. Defy everything that's in your way to solve the horrible secrets that exists in the dark.

Afterfall: Insanity is an interesting game; you can tell this game has been heavily inspired by recent post-apocalyptic games. It also manages to blend in features from recent action horror titles like Dead Space. What you get is a mush mosh of a game that neither excels or does badly in any area. As a result the game lacks identity, but it remains playable.

I do think 35 dollar price tag is way too steep. I bought this game at 10 dollars, and I feel that is the price it should have launched at. It's a tough sell, and I think the devs were reaching to far. The game is decent, but I would highly advise waiting for price reductions before jump in if you are interested in it.

Its really a pretty much average. I dont like how close combat works and its pretty much repetitive. Long range combat is ok but enemies are easily killed with just 1-2 shots. Like people said before, controls are slow and in many cases unresponsive...especially when i wanted to jump. Story is ok, average. Finally, there is horrible voice acting and dialogues are out of sync (guess thats because its meant to be Polish...) and dialogues are also just plain silly. All in all an average game.

There is a long time since I played this game. I did completed it.

After I downloaded it (from gamersgate), I tried to play it, instantly it crashed on me. Long short short; it don’t cooperate well with Logitech G35 (7.1 headset). Used my old headset, worked great.

I will not mention other about the story, than that it’s bad. I didn’t understand all of it, but neither do I care enough about it to try. You live in a vault, some disease or what the fuck comes (that part is somewhat explained), and the entire vault gets fucked.

The graphical is not what I’d expect in 2012, but this is an indie game, so that’s ok. It does look more than good enough. The real problem, isn’t here.

Let’s talk about gameplay. Which as far as I know, is how well the controls are, and how it “feels” to play it. This game is goddamn horrible. About 5-10 times an hour (less, but still often), the dude randomly jumps to the side. It also feels... heavy. Even in Dead Space, where you had a fucking suit on, movement was smoother. That is a high-budget game etc, yes. This indie game should still be better.

Something that really made me pull my hair out, is the dialogue. It’s beyond bad. Sure, there’s voices for each person, but they just pull the words out of their ass, horrible voice actors. Not to mention, theres music playing during the dialogue, so without subtitles, you’re fucked. before I forget it, I also have to complain about the main charachters arms during dialogue. It looks like he’s at the gym or something.

The atmosphere/enviroment in the game is similar to alot of games. It’s a bad mix of Fallout 3 (surface), Dead Space (vault), and possibly some more games.

After the game was completed, I deleted it, and will never touch it again. The only reason for me even completing it, was that I made a walkhrough of it.

I’d say 2/5. 1 point for simply being a game. The other point, as there were no bugs denying me to complete the game (except the one in the start that is.)

While I haven't finished playing this game, I have played quite a bit of it and all I can say is: "Meh" that's it. Unfortunately the game borrows heavily from many other games, chief among them Dead Space 2, and Resident Evil 4 and fails in pretty much every way to rise to their level. The controls are slow and unresponsive, the combat is O.K. if you only want to shoot at about 2 enemies at a time max, (but considering the horrid controls it's probably for the best). I was fortunate enough to get this game at a discounted price because I pre-ordered it from the developers website. It isn't a bad game but if you got a rig or ps3/360 I recommend playing either Dead Space 2 or Gears Of War or even Resident Evil 4 instead.

This game is very atmospheric. To me its a low budget sleeper hit. Though it reminds me of Dead Space and maybe a little Metro 2033 it has a very different Eastern European feel to it which I like even though Im from the west. After reading some reviews I was cautious buying even after I played the demo. But iwith the recent sale on GG I decided it was time to try it and Im glad I did. This game is not really scary but I do like the darkness of the levels and creepy music which is great. The controls are for the most part responsive though hitting the run key (space bar) seems delayed but it might just be my own hardware. If you like creative story telling and a immersive atomosphere along with decent graphics and PC friendly controls take the risk and buy Afterfall.

I didn't pick this up at first due to the price tag, but I eventually took the chance. It turned out to be the right choice - I fell in love with the game almost immediately. It's far from perfect, the animations, cutscenes and voice acting could have used a lot more work. Still, as it is, it's a very enjoyable game well worth investing in... at least if you can look past its imperfections.

This game was atmospheric and fantastic, I was sorry to see it end. Story is a little muddled due to translations, but when was the last time you played a psychologist protagonist in a third person shooter/brawler? That would never get off the drawing board at the big dev studios. The voice acting can be a little flat, as if the lines were meant for another situation and on occasion sounds are clearly missing from the action that is appearing on screen. Fans of Aldus Huxley, George Orwell or a certain early George Lucas film will likely enjoy it the most. One of, if not the, best looking post-apocalyptic cityscape I have ever seen in a game - Definitely looking forward to the continuation.

If Fallout and Dead Space had a baby, it would be Afterfall.

It's heart was in the right place... but head wasnt in the game.

I was quite excited when I heard about the $1 initiative about this game and many of the trailers got my attention as well. However once I got my hands on a copy of this game I was a little disappointed as it seemed to be incomplete and rushed in some aspects. Although the story is quite compelling and interesting it's one that has been played out all too often in movies and games now a days. The combat is a little on the clunky side and ALL of the Melee weapons handle roughly the same (you can swing single handed weapons quickly but do little damage while 2 handed weapons deal more damage on average). Once you obtain a firearm enemies rarely have an opportunity to get close enough to hit you, unless they also have a gun. The developers added a "Fear-lock" element to the game that if your character is scared the screen is supposed to get blurry and shaky, he will lose accuracy with guns but get a boost in melee it seems to be glitched in some instances when the screen failed to get blurry. I would say that if you played Dead Space or Resident Evil its pretty much a clone of the 3rd person shooter game. I think if given more time the team would be able to polish this game up well. on a final note the player may also notice that some lip sync and movements hit the "Uncanny valley" pretty hard, with characters moving unnaturally or just random "spasms" during cut-scenes. So over all; if you have some money to "burn" and this game is on sale get it, its a fairly decent Dead Space clone thats been done by an Indie company.

I have no words to describe how the potential of this production was wasted! Story is not attractive, animations of characters are terrible and out of emotions, fighting so boring... Graphics and music are good, but it's not enought. I am very dissapointed...

I'm only about 3 hours in and so far I'm enjoying this game. I've been following it for quite some time and it's finally here. On the technical side, it runs and looks great. The mouse control is fast and accurate, even when sprinting! (if you've played some recent console ports, you know how they usually screw this up). The atmosphere is really good. Story seems interesting so far, will need to play more.

The voice acting is a bit dodgy, as well as the animations. It feels like the developers weren't familiarized with the mocap process, the characters are always moving really awkwardly during cutscenes.

As for combat, melee feels meaty and requires a bit of strategy if you're playing on hard, there's lots of different weapons with different stats but they kinda feel the same to use.

Shooting feels like your regular 3rd-person shooter, only tried a pistol, shotgun and assault rifle so far (and a tranquilizer pistol but you only use it for a short while).

Overall: competent gameplay, great atmosphere, interesting story. Some minor annoyances like the animations and voice acting but nothing that ruins the experience. If this sounds like your kind of game, give it a shot
